I have no doubt this is a top notch moving company from all the positive reviews they receive. However, a few months back I stopped in at their office seeking a price quote to move a rather heavy box out of my entryway up a flight of stairs. I don't live more than 15 or 20 minutes from their location. The young man at the desk did some figuring and said it would be over $400! He said the cost involved travel time, at least an hour's work and two employees.

I know moving a house full of furniture is expensive but I thought this was overly expensive just to move a box. I found someone else to handle the job. Only one man was needed and he used a dolly to move the box and the price was much cheaper. And the time involved to do all of this was about 15 minutes. I have never understood the exorbitant price that was quoted. Their travel time fee must be extremely high even for a 15 or 20 minute drive.

And I'm sure they must have a dolly or two since they're in the moving business which could have utilized just one employee. As I stated earlier I don't mean to castigate this obviously stellar moving business but it certainly left me scratching my head about the price.

Earlier this month I had reviewed a move from VA to CA. There was damage, mostly light but some severe. In my error, I did not properly follow the insurance instructions prior to attempting to cure the damage. That was my responsibility. Varsity managent was quick to seek resolution after my original review, feeling though that the damage was not excessive. One's own things, I assume, are more important to the owner than others viewing them.

Although not completely content with the outcome, we have closed this episode to Varsity, 's satisfaction. I, again, accept responsibility for my lack of following protocol. I continue to find the mover's damage to my things to be unfortunate for me. In closing, I am grateful for the interest shown by senior management. jl

Movers are difficult to begin with, you can believe something will go wrong. Never have I had such a responsive contact as Michael. The few issues were solved immediately. Everyone is very friendly from the people answering the phone to the men picking up and delivering your things. We had a mix-up on trucks and didn't have enough for our big move from NJ to Virginia. They fixed the problem by getting another local moving truck on we were on the road the same day. I would definitely recommend Virginia Varsity Transfer.
