ISO tank containers are used in the transportation and storage of a variety of products including hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals, foodstuffs, and liquefied gases. Also known as UN portable tanks, bulk storage containers, shipping tanks, or intermodal tanks, ISO tank containers are welded inside the frame to protect it from damage during shipping and handling.
The workhorse of the industry, "closed tandem" drop-frame tank chassis come equipped with low-profile steel belted radial tires and a deck height of only 42" (ground clearance 18"). A tandem axle means that it has two sets of axles. The word tandem refers to "one right behind the other." The tandem axles extra tires allow the trailer to handle more weight while remaining stable at high speeds.
