IF YOU HAD MOVERS REQUIRE A CASH FINAL PAYMENT FOR DELIVERY YOU HAVE BEEN SCAMMED! S&M Relo required a $2,700 cash payment for final delivery of my furniture. The final amount due was $1,8**, an uneven amount. The drivers also demanded additional $1,500 cash to shuttle my furniture due to construction, including the driver, a female assistant, and the manager.

There was no construction equipment impeding the movers, and after 30 min the driver had to ask for instructions. He had never been to the delivery point and tried to pull this scam blind. I have over 25 years of finance experience in Emerging Markets, with constant exposure to fraud. At one point, I alone uncovered $250MM in fraud and worked with the FBI to convict a dozen criminals. S&M Relo/Moving Systems covered for their drivers by forging a final invoice.

This is a carefully planned and very well rehearsed scam involving multiple teams of drivers from AZ, CA, NV to UT. If you have had a similar experience, even if it was just a final cash payment, please call the Salt Lake City FBI station. They have an active investigation opened. Also, please post your own review and share all reviews with others.

I used S&M to organize a move from ATL, GA to Boston, MA. I organized the moved months in advance and asked S&M to tell me when they should pick everything up so that it arrives Boston during a specific week. After organizing for the loading dock and service elevators to be reserved on the specific days and times S&M requested, the movers arrived. more than 3 hours late for pick-up in ATL, took over three weeks in transit and arrived more than 11 days late in Boston then arrived more than 4 hours after promised on delivery day.

Not only was the timing of pick-up, transit and delivery completely mishandled. My bed frame and desk were lost in transit. The lack of communication from the moving coordinator Denise was astonishing having gone more than a month without a reply to emails, text messages, or voicemails. This company does not care about the customer's time, possessions or happiness. I wI'll not use S&M ever again and highly discourage everyone I know from even contacting them.

I would not use this company for moving. The movers got to me on time but then I had to sit with them for over two hours to get my things moved. I used their storage also. My first contract was for only 47 cents per storage. Will unbeknownst to me when the changed my contract they made it cost 1 per storage. I called to let them know and they will not honor my first contract.

They already put my price up to begin with and then they charge me more than double for storage. I would use a large well known company to move your things. Not someone who does contracts with other moving companies. They are straight forward and at least don't try to be sneaky along with not talk to you about it.

DO NOT USE. Scam of a company. Picked up my belongings almost 2 months ago with no delivery date. SCAM SCAM SCAM. Please do not use. BBB has been contacted. Don't make the mistake I made. Can only imagine how many of my items are broken if I ever get my delivery. DO NOT USE S&M SCAM RELOCATING COMPANY

We moved from Puerto Rico to Oakland recently and S&M Moving handled the delivery, move-in and unpacking in Oakland. The guys were very professional and did a great job. Literally one small item was broken from the whole move which was impressive. We did have an issue with a few new scratches on the hardwood floors from the move in and Mike D from their office was amazing and covered the expense for the repair.

The guys were careful but I wanted to call this incident out as great customer service is something I have not seen previously with moving companies. They were fantastic and I highly recommend them.

Literally the most scumbag awful people I have ever worked with. Not only did they send someone who was sick with a respiratory infection to my house to touch and move my things in the middle of covid but they lost multiple boxes with wedding gifts in them. Damaged my TV, desk and walls of my house but they also just don't care at all for their customers.

I called multiple times over the last few months asking if they had found my missing boxes and I get same excuse "oh we will look soon". Garbage company, garbage management, garbage employees for the most part

I'll start with, do yourself a favor and pay another mover a little more on the front end instead of paying much, much, much more on the back end from damaged, missing items and extra charges at the moment of the move (ie., we need extra money or we won't move you on the day of the move knowing full well you have obligations at your new home, job, etc., you have to pay us or you're screwed). 1.

They quoted a price based on how many boxes and furniture we had. We actually had to reduce the amount of furniture moved because of circumstances out of our control, but it was significantly less than what we had originally told them. When they arrived, instead of being less than the original cost, they said we had to pay more even though we had less.

We didn't have a choice because you can't get a replacement mover on the same day and they knew this. It was almost certainly bait and switch tactics. 2. Debbie. Debbie was the person who showed up to do inventory and was also the person who said it was going to cost more. She labeled almost everything as "CRTN PO CU", whatever that means?

My girlfriend asked and Debbie responded that's normal. We found out after the move that isn't the case at all. So, they extorted money and mislabeled almost everything. 3. The transit took 11 days longer than they said it would. 4. Alex showed up with another mover at the destination at 7pm. Both persons seemed very nice in the beginning.

They unloaded "everything", almost all of the boxes were crushed and/or destroyed on some level. Based on the external condition of the boxes alone, you'd have to assume they dropped them from the top of building just for fun or something. We brought up the condition of the boxes and started taking pictures. They essentially ignored us and kept unloading.

After everything was unloaded, we had already noticed the TV box and many art pieces were missing. We asked Alex about it and he became very aggressive, to the point of yelling at us at almost 10pm in an apartment complex. He said we should have been checking the sticker numbers on each box as they were unloading them. We were trying to do that, but they were bringing in 4-5 boxes at a time. There's absolutely no way to do it at the same time as they're literally blocking other boxes with new boxes, etc.

We asked why they hadn't kept inventory and he went on how we should be doing his job and it was our fault we couldn't keep up. He continued to get louder and louder trying to intimidate us, not allowing us to check anything while they were there as he continued to harass us. My girlfriend tried to write on the receipt that there was a missing television and other boxes of art.

He almost screamed at her and tried to stop her from writing anything except her signature. Needless to say, Alex is very rude and willing to do whatever he can to intimidate. The other person remained calm and didn't say anything. 5. While checking the contents of each box, it's what we feared. Broken irreplaceable dishes passed down through generations, broken cookware, I mean they bent, chipped cast iron, scrapped off enamel, and broke cast iron Le Creuset pots/pans.

Not a single rectangle, flat box (shape of a flat screen TV) arrived, not a single one. I can only assume that Alex had a drop off "broker" for anything that would be easy to identify and make a quick sell. They stole (see disclaimer below) one TV and valuable to us, irreplaceable art in rectangular boxes, even though it wouldn't have significant value to anyone else).

The approximate value of all broken or stolen items was AT LEAST $2500. It would have been CHEAPER to leave everything behind and replace it all based on the cost of the move and the time spent replacing everything they stole/broke (again, see disclaimer) although the irreplaceable items would have been lost, we lost most of it regardless because of they're horrible treatment of everything.

My girlfriend joked, though not really a joke that she could have tasked a 6 year old with the same job and the 6 year old would have done better than these "adults". 6. Customer service is abysmal, all but non-existent. They transfer you from one person to the next or don't answer if they recognize the number. They said they would compensate for $0.60 per pound on things we could prove were missing or damaged.

See above and how Debbie screwed us over with her lies about labeling. They won't even initiate a claims filing. Disclaimer: we cannot prove anything that happened in transit. I'm assuming Alex stole it or someone else along the way. It's my assumption based in the shape of many of the missing items.

Mike and Denise were both friendly and helpful, though a bit haphazard in communication, but several boxes were crushed, fragile boxes were stacked on the bottom, and their moving guys put all the legs to our furniture in an unmarked box that was very difficult to find after a stressful search. All in all, I wouldn't go with this company again for a cross country move.

Most inefficient, unprofessional company that I have ever worked with, and I have been a facilities manager for over 20 years. I called up for a quote and decided to go with this company. The sent a contractor by the name of React. These workers were careless and used very in n, appropriate language, not to mentioned being seen getting "high" in our parking lot.

I realize it's legal but not while working and it was even guy driving truck. Their boss was constantly calling and slowing the whole operation down. Finally when I tried to reach out to a Mike Doll in office he was like a snake oil salesman. He kept saying I'll look into tHen avoid my calls

We have moved across the country several times, and I can say without a doubt this was the best moving experience. From the very beginning Robert was very courteous and professional, and did a great job working with me on the estimate for the move. He asked a lot of questions and did a thorough inventory. He also made several trips personally to deliver moving supplies (without a charge) to us on three separate occasions.

Our moving coordinator, Denise, was also in contact frequently throughout the process, and was responsive to any questions we raised. The movers on both ends were very friendly and did a great job. Our items arrived within the guaranteed window as promised. We did have one broken dining room chair and a missing vacuum cleaner which is why it's on a 4 star rating.

I am working through the claims process now and will update rating if any issues come up. I would not hesitate to use S&M for a future move! Update: Funds to replace the broken chair were provided without any hassle, and the missing vacuum cleaner was found and re-delivered within 2 days. Great experiences all around!

They moved us from California to Texas very efficiently, with storage in Texas. Our property was delivered to our new home in excellent condition. They worked and coordinated with us throughout the entire process. The crews were awesome. Highly recommend this company.

I would not recommend this company. They damaged several of my items. They charged me $3000.00 more than I was initially told. The day they picked my items up is when they expected money. with exception of $1200.00 that they required at my delivery destination. They refused to take my items off the truck until they were paid the amount. Negative experience with this company. I will not use again.

Moving to your dream city with your dream company sounds awesome, right? Right! But you know what isn't awesome? Packing up your life and orchestrating a cross country move. Fortunately, I was taken care of with the latter. The S&M moving team arrived at my apartment in Dallas and packed up everything. From small things like candles, knicknacks, toiletries and utensils, to larger items like furniture, clothing, kitchenware and appliances--- they handled it all.

Nothing for me to pack or organize. They did it all. So convenient! And when it arrived in my new city (beautiful, sunny Los Angeles), it was is the same condition and organized by number and room origin. I worked with a woman named Dawn and she was friendly and kind, but also very busy. I will say that when I did speak with her, she was helpful and tried her best to give me up to date information (though that often was not available).

From the time the moving team packed and picked up my things in Dallas, I was given a 3ish week window of when I could expect my things to arrive. It was a bit inconvenient to arrive in an empty apartment with no bed or cookware. and even more so when I didn't know a narrowed window when I could expect it. I called several times- almost daily-- but couldn't get an exact date that would allow me to make plans and budget a temporary stay accordingly.

In anticipation of this, I moved out of my Dallas apartment about one week early (January 30th) to give the movers a head start on the timeline. I highly recommend this strategy. Better to have friends to stay with in your home city for a week or so than move to a new one and be stranded. And luckily for me, my things arrived on the 8th (just 5 days after my arrival), rather than two weeks after.

My verdict? A solid 3.5 stars, but I'll round to 4 because the actual movers were hardworking, did a great job, and all my stuff arrived in perfect condition. Grateful for the fresh start in my new city!

S&M Moving created the worst moving experience ever. 30% of my items were missing by the time they arrived at the final destination. After months of back and forth, their insurance had agreed to cover only a small portion of my looses. Everyone up the management stack is unprofessional. Use them at your own risk.

We've used S&M twice, in June, 2015, and July, 2018, to move ourselves and then our daughter to Fort Collins from the Bay Area. Mike Palos and Denise Curry we're professional and on top of every detail. Moving crew was great too and we had very smooth and on-time moves.

The team at S & M are amazing! Robert was extremely responsive and thorough from the very first phone call. He did an in-person consultation for our cross-state move and got us exactly what we needed. He definitely helped ease a lot of the anxiety with our big move. He's very professional and knows every angle of the business! Henry, Howard and Matt helped us with the packing and loading, and we then met Henry at our new home with Steve who helped with the unloading and placing everything exactly where we needed it.

Thank you so much for your help, Henry! You and the guys are incredible! Every single belonging arrived in tact. The furniture was handed with great care and was wrapped very securely. We didn't have a ding or dent in anything when it arrived! Everything was clean and exactly how we expected it to be when it got here. They paid close attention to every last detail - even the content labeling on the boxes.

I would 100% recommend S & M for any local, cross state, or cross country move. They are extremely professional and they made us feel like family. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart!

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Had a terrible and frustrating experience with this company, I advise others to heed the warnings here and STAY AWAY! I wish we would have. We moved cross country and this company was an unprofessional mess from start to finish. There's a long list of problems we had with these folks so I'll cut to the chase with the worst of it: This company's staff are non-communicative, evade calls, and are RUDE when you finally do get them on the phone. Was beyond disappointing and stressful dealing with this company when a cross country move is stressful enough as is. Save yourself the trouble and heed the warnings others gave here, use another moving service.

We felt comfortable using this company because they represented United Van Lines-----BIG MISTAKE! I cannot tell you how many things NEVER showed up or were damaged. Of course they're covered by the deductible. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THEM TO MY WORST ENEMY! If I could put a rating of -10 I would.

Absolutely the worst and most despicable company. They move soldiers' possessions who are on deployment, then without their permission move their possessions to a third party. WITHOUT THEIR PERMISSION.then when things come up missing and broken they do nothing. Disgusting, and disrespectful to our military.

As many others have already said this company is comprised of nothing but spineless, lying, evading, frauds. I had an $8,000 first edition Eames chair "covered" by high-value, full replacement liability coverage (which I paid extra for). The movers first tried to hide that they'd broken it in half after it came off the truck. Then when I pressed it, the driver and the worker who admitted to breaking it went outside and started screaming profanities at each other, and then the driver proceeded to PULL A GUN on the other man for having admitted fault.

Our account person Denise was useless and rude on the phone as this was unfolding and then the claim was passed on to United for being too high a dollar amount, so S&M basically tried to wipe their hands of it. United has since had an investigator out who said to my face that there would be no problem with this claim being covered, only to submit a report to United saying the damage was pre-existing (funny how I was able to SIT in the chair before it was move, and now it's a pile of parts on the floor) and that they "respectfully" decline to pay out anything for this claim.

They are also refusing to release the damage report unless I get a lawyer and take them to court. When I contacted Mike Dahl, the general manager, he was at first very apologetic and helpful and said he'd get to the bottom of it. One return call the following day to say he was still working on it. Now a week has passed and he refuses to answer my calls.

Funny though, when I called from a friend's phone he picked up, again was again very polite and apologetic saying he'd have more info the next day, only to screen my calls again for three days. I will continue to call daily until he answers the phone. I plan to pursue this to the full extent, but suffice to say these people are part of a total racket where they charge you obscene amounts of money for moving and liability coverage and then fully ghost when things go wrong. STAY AWAY.

Don't trust these fraudulent people! Broke a bed, a tv and than said it could be repaired- look at the damage- splintered my bed by dropping it and than waited 3 months to said they would fix it. Sleeping on the floor for 3 months because of them. On packing and unpacking- Late, didn't send enough people and were beyond rude. Each day, said one thing and did another. It's the most expensive move I've had by double and broke or damaged 7 different items. Don't trust them if you want your things back.

The worst! Update- even worse! Didn't repair the broken items, lied about what they said in the past (thank goodness I had email trails and photos). If you have anything of value, don't use these terrible people

Try to avoid this Moving company if you possibly can. The initial service is excellent. It's the moving part and follow-up that is absolutely terrible. The movers themselves are very nice and try hard not to damage anything as they move items in and out. But in our case, they lost 4 boxes of items, some extremely personal and a couple very valuable.

They claimed the boxes were not in their warehouse and that we must have them. I thought they were kidding. They weren't. The follow-up to our Claim was even worse. Extremely poor communication, minimal follow-up, and zero sense of urgency on their part. The move occurred in January and we are still waiting for our Claims Check. We would have given them 1 star but the sales person and movers doing all the work garner this terrible moving company 2 stars. We would urge you to avoid S&M Movers and select another moving company.

I recently use this company thru the relocation given by my company. They are very pricy and they will charge you every ways they can. They will charged u overtime for loading the goods on weekend, fuel charge, loading and unloading charge. They will even charged you for waiting for delivery (when i requested them to deliver my stuffs at 11am and the delivery crew came at 9am and said if they need to wait more than 2 hours, they will charge me extra 300$) I moved from Southern CA to northern CA and cost me 7K (around 5k for shipping and 2k for storing our goods at the storage for 7 days) I have 1bed room apartment.

Everything was smooth till the delivery crew knocked down our TV during the delivery and broke it. We were asked to processed the claim as we have insurance. Our TV costed around 3000 when we bought. It is a plasma TV but they issued only 1000$. When they want to charge overtimes, they straight away wants our credit cards to do. When it times for them to give the claim back, they are taking their sweet time.

They did not respond till we asked and not proactively providing us info. Only when we complained, the claim officer Karen Guzman, that we are not happy with 1K claim, she said she will look into the spec to match the price of our TV. Shouldn't they do that before they issued the claim amount? It seems like they are trying to test if people are ok with the $.

Only when they complsin further, they started looking into things. Also, we are mentioned that all our goods are insured, if that is the case, why cannot they hornor us the $ amount that TV really costs. Somemore, this whole claim is due to their crews' fault. I am still waiting for my esclation and really disappointed with the company. This company is just making money by cheating their customers.

Do not use this company! Denise Curry and Dawn Szabo are terrible employees, but especially Ms. Szabo. I was issued a contract/estimate by Ms. Szabo that had a tremendous amount of errors in it. The errors included: -No arrival date -Incorrect name listed on estimate -The unrequested addition of storage services -Wrong move date (arbitrarily selected by Ms. Szabo) -The unrequested addition of full packing services (when we explicitly stated that we did not want this service) I spoke with Ms. Szabo on Tuesday, 6/26 and asked her to fix the errors in our contract.

Not only did she refuse to issue us a new contract, she claimed that she had already provided adequate information for us to make our decision. Finally, after I insisted on being issued an accurate contract, your employee decided that your company would not service us. I am absolutely shocked by Ms. Szabo's terrible customer service and extremely poor handling of our move. Furthermore, I made several attempts to get in touch with her supervisor, Denise Curry, and she never once responded to a single email I sent her.

What an absolutely atrocious leader, manager, and employee! My conclusion after dealing with Ms. Curry and Ms. Szabo this past month is that this company is extremely inefficient, lacks customer service, and professionalism. Furthermore, it is my belief that both of these employees are an extreme detriment to their own company. The sole reason I am not using their service is Ms. Szabo and Ms. Curry. Congratulations on missing out on a $10K contract, I was unaware that businesses existed that don't like money. I'm sure S & M Moving Systems will be around for a long time to come with a business model such as this one. Best of luck to you.

My husband and I sent our goods on May 31st to be moved from Utah to California. By June 18th we were not given any update about the whereabouts of our personal items. Our move coordinator, Rebecca, did not keep in contact with us and never kept her promises about following up. We have been completely disgusted at the lack of communication. We were told that we would receive 24 hour notice of when the crew would get here with our things, but we were given notice just the night before. Two and a half weeks with no communication is way too long to go between UT and CA.

If I could give negative stars I would. I got a quote from Mike who said he would like to do it via Facetime. He gave me a quote for 2 pods and said that would be good. Moving day comes and they say I need 3 pods not 2, then they try to charge me for a 3rd pod. Since we already paid and signed the contract by law they can't charge me extra. Keep that in mind if they do this to you! Moving company kept our personal moving dolly.

It wasn't even in the truck when they delivered our pods. Tried to contact Denise and she didn't respond, not surprised. There goes $100 bucks. They also said we got 21 free days of storage yet the storage starts the day you move which makes no sense since it's not in storage it's in transit. Just a money grab. Denise was unresponsive and unprofessional. Do not use this company unless you want to get ripped off, your stuff stolen, and play cat and mouse.

I had this company move my items form Utah to Nevada. They broke my guitar and 6 months later have yet to process my claim. Every time I call to get help I am greeted with rude customer service and no answers or a message that say "all circuits are busy call again later" and the call drops. The woman in charge of handling my claim will not answer emails or calls. The only positive thing I have seen from this company is the delivery driver. He was very helpful and good to chat with.

I used S&M for a work transfer from SF to Germany. My coordinator was absolutely terrible. She was non-communicative, dismissive, and managed to royally screw things up. She also repeated lied to me (about arrivals, about the number of people who were coming, about how long things would take). We almost missed our flight because of her poor coordination, and in the end, a box got lost.

Also worth noting, she no longer works there. Honestly, the people that I worked with after the fact were decent enough, and if it had been a regular box of random household goods, I'd probably be giving them 4* for the attempt to rectify the situation. However, the box that was lost contained a literally irreplaceable family heirloom. There's only so much you can do to come back from that.

I would like to call out the people who actually showed up to pack for us. They knew were on a crunch, and they did literally everything they could to pack as fast as humanly possible. Despite that (and ignoring the lost box), we only had one broken glass in the entire shipment. On top of that, we actually had to leave before they finished packing, and one of the guys called me in a panic because he found our old passports in the firesafe and thought we had forgotten them. That's more than a little above and beyond the regular call of duty.

Unlike most reviews online, our experience with S&M and United Van lines was great. Right from packing, loading to delivery and unpacking; everything went smoothly. Rebecca was very helpful, always there to answer any queries we had during the process. The driver who drove it all the way across country was very understanding of our situation and brought the stuff when we wanted to. We didn't have any damage of property either. I would highly recommend S&M to folks moving to west coast.

Henry, Steve and Charles packed, load and moved our household goods to Oregon. Henry contacted me to let me know they will be at the house around 8:00 am on a Wed. morning. Henry and Steve were clean, professional and friendly. I gave them a tour of the house, garage and the shed. Charles came a few minutes later and they started the process of packing.

They were very meticulous about wrapping our high value items. It took 2-days to pack and then loaded the truck on Friday. These guys were funny, but conscientious and fast. The house was free of packing debris when they got done. Henry very carefully inventoried the boxes and furniture. These guys were excellent! Our belongings were in great condition when they were delivered. Delivery guys were also careful and friendly. We did not have to file any claims. Highly recommended!
