I recently used Piedmont for some unique short-term storage in San Jose and I was thrilled with their service. Everything from the account management to physically having my items ready for pickup on the day I came to get everything was phenomenal. Would highly recommend them and I will be a return customer without a doubt.

Hello All, I had a difficult move from Los Gatos to Gilroy and furniture and personal stuff was more then tough enough. The rough part was my garage. I have a Monster sized Snap On Toolbox that I was very scared to move and a large mechenry. These guys are so Professional they handled this like it was a cake walk. This tool box is six feet tall and seven long and about seven thousand pounds and they managed this on a very steep driveway without even a scratch. Hey Mark your guys ROCK! and are the best Thanks, Tom

I would choose any other company besides Piedmont/Mayflower for your move. Other than their shuttle crew who picked up our belongings to take to the warehouse, nothing was good. They knowingly gave false statements about our belongings even when they knew our items still sat on the warehouse floor. The day our items were to be delivered, the "customer service" person said that our items had shipped.

We terminated our short-term rental because of their promises and had to live without furniture/clothing/kitchen items for almost a month. Finally after contacting Mayflower headquarters to complain did I receive some assurance (with the caveat that I wouldn't hold Mayflower responsible for Piedmont's inability to provide service). Local or cross-country move -- I would stay far away from Piedmont. They quote some Bible verses on their website, yet I have written proof that they gave false and misleading statements a dozen times. How ironic.

These guys are great! I hired Mayflower for a long distance move and needed a shuttle with the local guys due to where I live. They were quick, efficient, and did not even take a break! Scott quoted me for my move and was a rockstar throughout the process. Highly recommend these guys!

Excellent Movers! I made the mistake of waiting until about 5 days before my move to find a moving company. Several places I called said "no way", but Piedmont/Mayflower worked with me to do my move one day later than I had planned. I'm so glad I called Piedmont - I could not have had better service, from the estimator (Steve) to the completely professional packing/moving team, who were awesome.

I have to confess that a 3600 sq ft house (and especially a 3-car garage) holds a ton of stuff, and I was only about 50% packed up when they arrived. So they needed to do a fair amount of packing before they could even begin the loading. Well, everything arrived in great shape - nothing missing, nothing damaged, including some pretty high-end furniture and my art glass collection. Can't ask anything more of a moving company - I had great service, the team was great, the price competetive, and everything arrived intact. Perfect!

I can't comment on the 2 bad reviews, but my experience was compeletely different (and much better than I expected); I can whole-heartedly recommend Piedmont Moving Systems. David B. Karpf, MD

Poor reviews had me worried, but it seemed like all movers had bad reviews so I went with these guys. I should not have worried. They were great. First off, the estimator Scott McElfresh was extremely professional and very nice. His initial visit was on time and efficient. Later, he came by twice with free boxes, saving us lots of money. I did most of the packing myself, and he provided helpful advice via email and phone.

He recommended a car carrier who also delivered good service. On moving day, Dave Pike from United Van Lines showed up a few minutes EARLY with two helpers. They did a terrific job packing my most fragile treasures -- nothing was broken, and this was a cross-country move in the wintertime. They were all friendly and professional. They loaded a 3 bedroom house in 5.5 hours.

They told us it would take 7 to 10 days to go from the Bay Area to Central Virginia. It took 8. They kept us informed about the delivery date. Again, Dave showed up a little early but I'm not complaining. They put everything where we wanted it. They took care not to track in dirt even though it was drizzling. Later, Dave found a tiny part of my patio table that had fallen off in the truck.

He called to tell me about it, and then he Fedexed it to me. You can't get any better service than that. The price was reasonable and the service was excellent. Other than a couple of tiny dings in some furniture, nothing was damaged. Nothing was lost. We feel very fortunate to have chosen Piedmont and United/Mayflower.

I agree I don't understand yelp either.all the quality opines of this company's profile are filtered out how can anyone tell.when they are not there posted to see. I don't understand how yelp can do this not only to this company but to other just like this one. Looking at the filtered reviews I would recommend there services.

I don't understand YELP! I wrote a glowing review of Piedmont Moving Systems because I got great service and a great price. But it stayed up for only one day. I have no problem putting on a review when a company or business does me wrong---but why yank a review when it is positive. BY THE WAY--I dont work for the company, dont own stock in the company, dont have family who work for the company---they just did a really professional, really reasonably priced move for me. Who do we write to complain about YELP when they censor positive reviews chris e

I moved with this company last week. I found them to be very competitive and helped me reduce my family's stress as we packed for our move. If I ever have to move again, I would call them again.

If United tries to do your move through Bartels/Piedmont Moving Systems/Whatever they call themselves, calmly turn the other direction and run like hell! I can't even begin to describe the horrors of using this company, but I'll try in case the other reviews haven't convinced you enough. Firstly, the coordinator for our move, Linda K. (who is mentioned for her terrible service and demeanor in other reviews), was horrible to deal with, completely unsympathetic and does nothing to try and reunite you with your stuff.

Our awful experience started when Bartels misquoted our move after their mistake of getting the destination address wrong (they had the completely wrong city in NY somehow). After agreeing to the quote and signing the contract, they informed us that they had gotten the city wrong and with the correct destination city, the move was substantially more, and we'd be required to pay the higher amount despite the fact that it was Their mistake.

After going back and forth several times with Linda being heated at best and downright rude and ignorant at worst, we finally settled on a price agreeable to both of us. In this process, we ended up speaking with the GM of the operation, Mark B., who basically said tough luck and was equally nightmarish to deal with and disrespectful. But, unfortunately for us, our troubles weren't over when we finally agreed on price.

I suppose I should have been concerned when I heard the driver, Josef A., calling multiple friends while packing my stuff and talked about making stops between San Jose and NY to visit along the way on his trip with my (and other paying customers') stuff. I then find out from a slip by Linda that he didn't even leave the Bay Area despite finishing loading all his customers for FOUR days. Then, he proceeded to take 10 days longer than I was told by United to deliver our items.

All in all it took 17 days to get our stuff. 2.5 weeks when we were promised it would take a week. Terrible. After calling United corporate and asking to speak with a manager, we were able to get a small remuneration after all Bartel's had put us through and United said they would look into removing Bartel's as a United/Mayflower affiliate.

Make sure to ask what local company will be packing your stuff/coordinating your move if you use a large company like United. Look the local companies up, and tell United you want a different local mover if the reviews aren't good (or in Bartels case, embarrassingly abysmal)! I wish I had known this, but didn't know it would be Bartel's until they showed up at my doorstep to pack up my stuff. Don't make my mistake!

We chose Piedmont (Mayflower part of Bartels Moving Systems) because of the positive referrals we read. The company met and even exceed our expectations for their professional demeanor, knowledge and respect for our belongings The crew arrived on time and kept to their schedule with precision. Ours was not a small move and the crew made it appear so easy. Thank you for a job well done. Mike Mountain View CA

We chose Piedmont Moving Systems (sister service of Bartels Moving Systems) for our move from Palo Alto to Santa Barbara after getting bids from three companies. The Piedmont people stood out for their friendly and professional response to our call. The movers themselves were super, carefully wrapping each piece of furniture before placing it onto the van.

This was critical for us, since many of our pieces are heirloom quality. Despite these precautions, however, three of our best pieces sustained several dozen nicks, gouges, and dents over their surfaces during the drive down. We were stunned. We had managed to keep these pieces in like-new condition for more than a decade, and now they looked not only used, but abused. Fortunately, we'd purchased the maximum insurance from Piedmont, so we were covered for the full value of the furniture. Piedmont's general manager, Mark Beltramo, immediately found an antique repair expert to come and assess the damage, putting our claim into motion.

Within a few weeks the furniture was back in the house, restored to its previous luster. I'd be very surprised if other companies would be this responsible in the same situation. While it's a shame that the furniture was damaged in the first place, moving IS tricky, and accidents DO happen. What's important isn't how a company performs when things go right, but how it performs when they go wrong. Piedmont performed admirably in a situation where others might not. Hats off to Mark Beltramo and team for handling this problem so responsively. I highly recommend this company.
