I booked Cargo taxi to move some plants for a 10 minute trip from Tribeca to Noho. The whole thing ended up taking 3 1/2 hours: they were supposed to arrive at 2pm. At 2:30, as no-one had shown up I tried to call the number listed but no answer so I emailed them. A while later I got a response saying "I'm in the Bronx; will let you know when I'm done".

I keep waiting and calling; then I get a text from George from saying they'll get there around 4. At 5 still no-one; 5:15 new message saying they're outside, but they are not (turns out Georges is just a guy in the office, not the driver, so he has no idea of where the truck really is). Finally they show up at 5:30, three and a half hours late. No apologies, no price reduction, like it's totally normal to waste someone's entire afternoon. Do not use them if you value your time.

Be warned, dont use this company, i had an appointment with George to pick up my stuff from a location and his worker told him that he is not interested in picking up from there as it stresses him out. He emailed me at 10pm the night before the pickup. They are unreliable, and just not a good company to work with. i wouldnt use his services again.

Used them to pickup and deliver furniture from IKEA Thought the communication was good at first until I received a call on the morning of delivery saying that 3 of the 7 items were out of stock. The person I was speaking to could barely speak english and I honestly was just confused as to what was going on. When I tried calling George, the guy I was originally in contact with to get the quote and send my shopping list, George did not answer.

The same guy who had just called me, the guy who was delivering, answered the phone. 2 different cell numbers, same guy. interesting. He told me George was not available as he was out of town. They originally quoted me 200 dollars for the delivery. Being that 3 of the 7 items were not being delivered, I obviously request that the delivery fee be decreased proportionally by price and size.

The cost came out to way less than half of what I ordered so I asked if 100 would be okay for delivery. He then said he would have to contact George and ask. I thought he was out of town? Called me back and just tried to negotiate with me until I finally agreed to $120. Obviously I was going to agree! I was moving in to a new apartment and needed the furniture! Overall, the concept of their idea is great.

It gives people a part time job and I salute that, but there has got to be better management here. I felt like I was getting scammed, and overall it was a very frustrating experience. I should have just rented a car and avoided the hassle. I would not recommend this service to anyone.

I'd seen some bad reviews here but opted to risk it because I was in a pinch. Big mistake. Least professional company I've encountered in many, many years. I wrote to George for a quote on a Monday, clearly stating that I was moving out of the city. After a couple of emails, he wrote "confirmed" on Tuesday for a move the following Monday.

Fast forward to late Sunday morning, when he emails to say he didn't realize I was moving out of the city, it would cost more and he only has someone on Tuesday, not Monday. (I had originally offered that as one of the days but he had said Monday was best for them.) After some price haggling via email, I thought we were all set, only to receive an email later in the afternoon saying he no longer had someone on Tuesday and it would have to be Wednesday. Hours of stress later, I was lucky enough to find another (professional) company that had an opening that Tuesday.

We had very poor service with Cargo Taxi. No one answered any of their 3 phone numbers when they failed to arrive at the scheduled time. Emails from the owner were wildly inaccurate. If we didn't have so much to move in a time crunch I would have cancelled. The drivers were great and very apologetic.

Terrible communication and customer service experience. I submitted a request for quote a few days in advance of the move, but I didn't hear back by the next morning so I called. The guy on the phone said, oh right, I'll get you a quote right away. An hour later, nothing. I called back - oh right, sure I'll give you a quote. Hours later. nothing.

Still - knowing I'd use some sort of "man with a van" service before and had been fine - I call again (my last experience was super cheap and worth the hassle). "Send me an email at __ and I'll send a quote, " he says. Cool, thanks. I send the email with my information. A while later he writes back with a quote, very little information other than the price for one or two movers.

I asked for two movers, then he said he only had one guy. The price was cheap, so I said - Great! Does the one guy help move boxes as well as drive? If so, I'll book. His next email summed up my entire experience, he wrote one word - "ok" As in: Okay soooo, this IS happening? Did he book me? He says he'll send contact info day of move. Okay. now day of the move he tells me he's coming an hour late.

Where is he? He's not responding to calls or email. Okay, even if he gets here two hours later, I'm not taking his service. Okay, I guess I'm not moving today. Okay. Never try to use this service again. Complete lack of service.

These guys suck. I never write reviews but after the terrible service I felt compelled to tell the world how bad they are. Do not use. Stay away at all costs.

My first request for a quote went unanswered and I had to call George to get a response. We had a minute long conversation, in which he rushed the entire time, and he gave me a soft quote. After the call, I emailed George my IKEA shopping list again as he asked me to do. George replied to that email with "We can do Thursday." I corrected him that I had asked for a Friday, and once again asked for an actual quote, he replied "Friday is OK ~ 12pm." Once again I asked for an actual quote and if there was anything else I needed to do to officially book the service.

No reply. I email him again. He finally gave me an "official" quote - which consisted of four lines and 18 words in an email. It was also $20 more that what was listed on their website. Ultimately, I decided that given his poor communication, lack of professionalism and multiple terrible Yelp reviews, that it wasn't worth the risk to book them.

I emailed him to say that I wouldn't be using the service, as his communication worried me. I thanked him for his time and apologized if I had wasted it at all. I got my fasted response back - a lovely "you really wasted my time". George spent a minute on a call with me and his emails consisted of 38 words total - that was the extent of his valued time that I wasted. Don't use this company. Not only will you most likely be treated to bad service in general, you'll be supporting a rude person, who obviously cares zero about his customers.

We worked with Cargo Taxi for IKEA delivery and they offer absolutely awesome service. Specially on the last minute jobs. They helped us with many deliveries from IKEA to NYC and all our clients were happy, no complains. They work 7 days a week and very punctual. Geo

I checked all reviews on YeLp but still wanted to try this service. Many reviews was given even without service performed so I called George and made appointment for the past weekend. May be I got lucky but everything went very well. Yes, they came little late but moved my studio apartment to UWS quick. Also Sasha helped me to finish with packing my dishes. I will also leave this review on Yelp. Thank you George

If I could give them 0 stars I would. Their website makes a point of saying they email you back in 30 minutes. Which I didn't need them to be that quick but within a day or two. Well they never responded. I wrote 3 times before I got a response. And I had to put in the subject line "3rd time writing and no response" to get their attention apparently.

I asked them to pick up my IKEA stuff (I would do the shopping and pay for it myself and meet the truck there) and wanted it picked up at IKEA Brooklyn and delivered to Washington Heights in Manhattan. THe website once again says Manhattan delivery for $79 from IKEA Brooklyn. When the guy finally got back to me he said $140. Apparently nothing on their website is actually true. They are just trying to lure you in hoping you'll just make a rash decision and go with them anyways. Well too bad you have way too much competition out there.

This is the first time in my life that I ever use a service and I deem it so terrible that I feel compelled to write a review and warn people against it. I used Cargo Taxi for IKEA pick-up/delivery/assembly. During the weeks prior to the actual day I booked them for, George and I exchanged several emails and he would just ignore most of the questions I asked him (for example, what if an item in my list isn't in stock at IKEA?) and simply repeat over and over again how much it would cost.

On the day of, the assembly guy was 1.5 hr late and didn't even bother letting me know that he was going to be so late. He didn't assemble a chair and a wall shelf I had because, in his words, he doesn't do that. Which was ridiculous because I had specifically asked George in an email if they could put things up on walls, and he had said that they did.

The three things he did assemble - a small desk, a book case and a storage bed - were not assembled perfectly. One of the drawers on the bed doesn't open. The book shelf is unstable and wobbles, and the pull-out compartment on the desk is loose. If I wanted flimsy furniture I would have built it myself. On top of that, when the guy "finished" assembling my things, he charged me $160 for 4 hours of assembly (on top of the pick-up/delivery cost) when online it says that they charge $30/hour. Furthermore, to pay with credit/debit card you have to pay 4% extra! Nowhere online did it say that and George had not told me either in our correspondence. Ridiculous. Stay away.

If you need man with a van service use this company. Just want to thank you man with a van service today! Sasha came 7am this morning and moved my sofa from one elevator building to another in 45 minutes. He covered sofa with blankets and quickly squeezed couch through bedroom door by himself. Amazing! Ask for Sasha if you need job done right!

Unfortunately, my experience was similar to Williams'. The good: George is really nice, and responsive. Ordering and scheduling was super easy, so I really wish I could give a good rating. The bad: the delivery person showed up late, without letting me know. Not horrible but not great. Then proceeded to ask me if I really needed set up? And, can I please take everything in myself. Unfortunately, this was just the start.

He was absurdly slow in setting things up, did not in fact complete everything (I asked for wall mounting of my shelves), complained the entire time and then yelled at me for a tip when he was done. Additionally, he left the boxes and trash everywhere.

AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL. I read mixed reviews but I figured I would give it a try anyways. I needed help moving my stuff from the Lower East Side to Brooklyn Heights. I gave them a call and it they said they would be available but never confirmed it to me in any way. I wanted to be sure so I had them email me to confirm my reservation and after a long time with no reply they finally just emailed back saying "yes." The company gave me a one hour window of time that they said they would be there at.

After this hour was up and still one arrived I called to see what was going on. It took me over ten calls for someone to finally pick up. They said they were running late and it would be another hour or two until they could come. The mover arrived over 4 hours after the scheduled time, complaining about his long day. I understand being a little bit late, especially with New York City one way streets and traffic.

But when you give a driver one hour leeway to begin with, it is unacceptable to be over 4 hours late. They didn't call in the scheduled hour to tell me that they would be late either and just let me sit around. I ended up having to move all of my stuff by myself down 6 flights of stairs and I almost broke my foot because of it. Not only this but the driver was rude and didn't follow directions.

To top off this horrible experience, he almost charged me twice what I owed. I will NEVER use this company again and I strongly suggest others to find different companies as well.

Absolutely great company. I needed some IKEA furnishing for my new apartment and also move my studio from Upper east side to Brooklyn. They bought almost everything at IKEA and assembled my new bed, 2 night stands and dresser in 2 1/2 hours. Sasha with his helper moved everything and all service took ~ 5 hours. I have no idea how else I would do this without this service. This company makes my life easier and hope will help you too!

The only problem is that I was waiting for Mercedes Sprinter to help me, but movers came with GMC box truck (also yellow). I believe that truck is bigger than sprinter van so no complain. Sasha and Dmitri were the best movers I ever had. We had issue with snow and weather condition but there were working hard, fast, and very very friendly. I don't know how many truck they have but I got super service yesterday!

They were late for about an hour, but then all move was just amazing. Very quick and professional guys. I had a very heavy upright piano with some small furniture and boxes. I was moved within 3 hours and for ~ $270.00 If you are looking for cheap and expert movers ask for George when call Cargo Taxi

Absolutely awesome service. I was thinking to rent a truck yesterday and ask my pals to help me with the move, but ended hiring Cargo Taxi. For the last minute move the price was very affordable and Sasha with helper performed fast and smooth job. well done guys! I will definitely use them again.

If you are pressed with time and want to make sure that no one returns your calls, or confirms the service, contact them. This service was ridiculously ineffective. I needed an urgent service the following day; when I spoke with the driver he assured me it would be no problem. I filled out an online form twice and never received confirmation; then I called and no one answered. I emailed for the third time that night to confirm; at 7am the following day someone wrote back to me saying they could not help me.

The worst. Forgot items but charged me and then claimed a dresser was out of stock when ikea showed that four were available. To add insult to injury, they then tried to charge me for insurance that they did not invoice me for. Use at your own risk!

My boyfriend and I used these guys to move from Brooklyn to Upper Manhattan and the service was awesome. The van arrived 15 minutes early! The guy helped us get everything onto the truck quickly and efficiently and was super cool. All in all our move took a little over an hour and was cheaper then renting a Uhaul. Definitely recommend these guys if you don't want to have to deal with the pressure of moving in NYC.

Great IKEA pickup/delivery service! Sent them my IKEA shopping list on a Friday and requested pickup and delivery on Saturday. The prices are generally similar to all other services that do ikea pickup and delivery. The guys showed up exactly at the time I was told, 1pm on Saturday and the delivery was finished in less than 30 minutes, and it was a 6 floor walk-up with heavy furniture. Only thing I didn't like was the 3% surcharge on credit card payments, but it was justified by Paypal taking that percentage.

Living in NY, without a car sounds like a mess- especially when you're moving. I moved into my own apartment, and I was freaking out. I saw an ad for Man with a Van, and I came onto Yelp to read reviews. After seeing all the reviews, I decided to take a shot. From the first phone call, I was instantly happy and stress-free. They took note of all of my needs and once they showed up to move my stuff, they were clear and thorough and I couldn't be happier. Thank you Man with a van! You made my moving SIMPLE. I totally recommend!

My review is only for the IKEA shopping and delivery service. I wanted two large wardrobes, but didn't have a way to get them home. I also didn't feel like dealing with the madhouse that is IKEA. I also decided to have them pickup a few other items. I called around 9:30am on Saturday morning. While the explanation of the service was pretty clear on the website, I called to work out a few details.

I placed everything I wanted in an IKEA shopping list and emailed the list to the company. They quickly replied with an estimate of charges and offered to deliver same day after 5pm or next day (Sunday) after 3pm. I opted for Sunday. They confirmed they would come at 3pm. On delivery day I got a call about 2:00 saying they would be about an hour late.

At 4:30 they called from IKEA to tell me two of the items I wanted were out-of-stock. They finally showed up around 7:00pm, provided me with a receipt and quickly dropped off the items. The two men were very polite. I would schedule delivery for when you have a window that is larger than just a couple hours. They charge 10% of the IKEA total for the shopping service.

It was totally worth it to me not to have to go to IKEA. Delivery charge was $79 for Queens (it's more or less for the other Boroughs). And getting the items same or next day is awesome! I tried to order the items from IKEA, but the delivery date was two weeks away and the charge was $99. New York Cargo Taxi beats that hands down. I highly recommend their IKEA services. They will also meet you there to pick up your items if you want to do the shopping yourself.

I recently moved to New York and bought a bed at IKEA and had a few options: get a Zipcar and pick up the items myself, have IKEA deliver it and wait the 2 weeks it usually takes, or have another delivery service do it for me. I Googled "IKEA delivery" and this place popped up. Two words: buyer beware. I followed their directions, emailed them a PDF of my shopping list and they promptly called to set up a time, which was the next day.

They emailed me the quote, which included the cost of my items, a $90 delivery charge and a $50 shopping charge (for going in the store, getting the items and buying them). It seemed easy enough and very convenient considering my schedule is nuts and I'm uber busy. I left the office early, got the cash for the goods and met them at my apartment.

So far, so good - right? Wrong. As I was carrying the items into my building with the assistance of my kind doorman, the delivery guys were calculating the final bill. When all was said and done, the shopping charge was $70 and the final bill was nearly $300 more than what it should have been. Why? Apparently the extra $20 they charged me for shopping was to pick out all the wrong items.

After a few minutes of a confused driver telling me he didn't know what to do, I grabbed the cash and sent them on their way with the stuff I didn't order. A complete waste of time. Here's a tip for this delivery service: If the items aren't available at IKEA, you might want to contact your customers first instead of showing up at their door with the wrong and more expensive items. Guess what I'll be doing this weekend with a Zipcar?
