Critical: Value One of the movers stole my rare Pokemon binder collection back when I used merchants as my movers. Merchants check your workers. Makes sense why this job is perfect for thieves.

Great movers! My father worked with Merchants for years to transport manufactured goods and had an excellent working relationship them, so recommended them to me for a residential move from NJ to WI. It turned out to be a challenging move for Merchants and they could not have handled it better. One of the movers, when he arrived in NJ was suffering from a terrible toothache that had come up during the drive from out-of-state.

Poor guy, in so much pain. I arranged for him to be seen by my dentist on an emergency basis the next morning. They took care of him and I expected that he would take at least a couple hours off after the procedure, but he pushed ahead and put in a full day, despite the discomfort. I had European furniture that needed to be disassembled. It took significantly longer than expected, but the movers kept at it, working until nearly 10pm to get it all done.

And they didn't charge extra, staying with the original price quoted. The drive from NJ to WI was in a snow storm. There were similar trucks in ditches along the way, but my Merchants team made it safely to WI with all my worldly possessions. At the destination I needed part of the load to be dropped at a residence and the rest of the load to be stored in the Merchant storage facility.

They took the combination delivery in stride, separating the load without a hitch. My things were in storage at their facility for two years and when they finally delivered everything to my new home, there was not a single broken, scratched or otherwise damaged item. This despite there being a fair amount of glass, ceramics, unusual furniture and artwork in the load. Working with Merchants was a dream, from start to finish. Excellent communication from start to finish. I would highly recommend.

Your driver driving an 18 wheeler ran me off the road! Video is going up tomorrow. I was extremely close to firing toward the truck in self defense as it barreled toward me.

Merchants has moved me 4 times and every time it is a quality move and great service and they can move anything you own. Safes to Fish Tanks. Wont find better! Service: Out-of-county removals

It just wasn't all that for me. Maybe it's because others pumped it up too high before I had my first taste of the place.

Merchants is the best! They have moved me cross-country five times and every experience has been highly professional. Nothing has ever been lost or broken. Merchants goes above and beyond and is the only company I trust when it comes to moving!

Horrible service! #1 packers took 2 1/2 hour lunch/smoke breaks each day. #2 Items destined for my apartment went to storage and vis versa. No remedy because the storage location is all the way in Wisconsin. #3 delivery to my new home is scheduled 2 weeks out! I have no idea why my relocation specialist used this company. Responses from this company have been unacceptable

This is my second move with Merchants moving and storage. From the very start with Dave the experience is very professional and stress free. The transporters in both movers were professional, on time, called with updates on pick up and delivery. I would never use another moving company. This company is not a broker. Merchants has there own very well maintained trucks. They even have a person call after pick up and after delivery to ensure all went well. THANK YOU so much Merchants for another stress free move :

I used Merchants to move from Houston to Milwaukee, and they were great. Very professional and fast! I couldn't believe how fast they packed up my house with just two guys. I would recommend them to anyone. Their prices are very competitive as well.

We have moved 4 times in the past ten years, each time we moved several states apart. The last move was June 2017. Each time we were sent a crew of polite, competent, and careful movers. I would, and have, recommend them. They took care not to damage floors and walls, carefully wrapped furniture, and didn't complain despite various weather conditions.

They've done a great job storing and disposing of our records, we're very fortunate to have them in Racine

Really positive experience. Someone was always available to answer questions before and during the move, and the movers were very experienced and helpful.

I used Merchant Movers as part of a relocation through work. I knew going in that I would need storage past the 60 days paid for by the company, but I wasn't quite prepared for the bill (which fortunately I asked them to provide before they hit me with it). They were going to charge me $1635/month for storage. I called to make sure that it wasn't a typo error.

That's right. I was told they are "a little more expensive than other moving companies in the area." Despite multiple requests, I never got a call from the supervisor. I was hoping we could negotiate something so I wasn't forced to move my stuff into storage and then have to move it into my new home myself. Well, I'm currently sitting outside my $350/month climate controlled storage unit waiting for them to come drop it off. Words can not accurately portray how upset I am that the INSANE storage costs were not discussed up front.

Since it is through my employer, I have no contract with them. No opportunity to read the fine print, and no recourse because I'd have to go through my employer to challenge the fees. They also overcharged for the move in my opinion, but the company pays for that. I moved from DE to FL so the sense in bringing everything to WI escapes me. Strange business plan. IMO.

The guys who moved me out were great. It's too bad I cant leave them a good review because they deserve one. Anyway, I'd suggest you keep searching. I feel like I have been robbed by this company.

Very disappointed with this company. I had to use the because of a relocation package with work. I knew up front that the move would take me more than the 2 moths that my company would pay storage. I had to initiate a quote for additional storage and thank God I did. $1635/month. Isn't that insane? With no response to multiple requests for a supervisor, i had to move everything into a storage unit.

Climate Controlled.guess how much. $350/month. I now have to move do the final move on my own, which leaves me wondering what's the point of using them at all? This is on a $24K move mind you.not a studio move around the block. The actual movers were great. Efficient, careful and polite. Not great enough to make me stop feeling like I was robbed though. I suggest finding someone else and ill be recommending to my employer to drop them as a vendor.

Don't use Merchants if you expect them to stand behind their services. We had them move our belongings from Chicago to Southern California and multiple items were broke. One item in particular that broke was our King Mattress. The movers bent it so badly that it the springs broke and the bed now concaves. When we made this claim their response was that we gave them permission to bend the bed to get it up the stairs.

Essentially they admitted bending it, but said we gave them permission to do (which we vehemently deny) so they are not responsible. When I raised the point of one we did not give permission they rejected that, then when we contested that we would never give permission to essentially break our mattress, they said that we did give permission to break it.

How nonsensical is that. Best part is that the mattress actually fits up the stairway without having to be bent, and even if it did not there was a balcony off the master that allows for straight in access. Granted this denial gave after weeks of silence from making the claim and multiple versions on their end of how it broke. The first version was that it broke going down the stairs in Chicago.

When I pointed out that we live on thefirst floor, they changed the story to "you told us we could bend it, so it is your fault and we are not liable." They also broke our mini-fridge and that was denied because they did not know if it was working before they moved it? Seriously? How is that a plausible denial? The salesperson has gone incognito and does not respond to calls or emails despite his miscommunication to the movers both pre and post move.

He basically got his commission and then told us to piss off via silence. We have tried the VP of the company but he does not respond to us either, leaving us dealing with the Administrative Assistant who denied our claims. This was a $2500 mattress that now cannot be used. This company is terrible when it comes to service and I would not use them again.

We scheduled our move with them about 2/12 weeks out. We were moving across the country so had to make arrangements in a hotel and buy plane tickets. We did that. Three days before our packers were "scheduled to come start packing" they tell us they cannot pack and move our things on the dates promised. Because it will cost us hundreds of dollars to change our plane ticket and plans, we will now be sitting in an empty house in our new destination with no furniture for 2 plus weeks.

Not to mention that I have to fly back to meet our movers so they can begin packing and loading. I tried to find another Van Line to move us, but everyone needs at least 2 weeks notice! Now we are stuck! So disappointed in this moving company our relocation company chose for us!

By far the best experience with movers we have ever had! This company is professional and knows how to get the job done in a quick, efficient and safe manor. We highly recommend Merchants to anyone looking to do a move!

I recently moved again and was reminded of the worst moving experience I've ever had [with Merchants]. They were suggested by my husband's company [who said they would cases using them]. Merchants said they could move pianos. They had all the details regarding where the piano was going. It sat uncovered on a busy street off the tunnel in Manhattan, and the movers said they couldn't bring it up and had another gig to jet to.

I ultimately tried putting it into storage. They came back the next day with 3 people, instead of 2 - - none of them had ever moved a piano up stairs, and I had only one flight. Again, they said it couldn't be done - and visible damage was done to the piano already because it had not been packed and handled correctly. [Sparing some details here]. Ultimately, Steinway suggested a few companies, and 2 guys moved it in for a lot less than I paid Merchants, and it only took them 10 minutes.

Despite before and after photos Merchants argued about the damages. I asked if they could at least refund the amount I paid them to move, which was not arguable. Nope. Wouldn't do it. I had strangers playing my piano on the sidewalk, as I begged the Merchants manager on the phone to help find a solution. All of the neighbors remember the event and have brought it up over the years. I've slowly paid polishers to repair the damage.

One day I hope the traces will be gone. Beware of the customer service. In this last move I did, the other company carefully wrapped everything, and I never had to pick stickers off antique furniture.

We've used Merchants twice now for job-related moves. We had a good experience the first time around. They packed and loaded our goods quickly and drove to our new state in 2-3 days. However, we are now in the midst of using them again and this time it is taking a full week for delivery of our goods. We are stuck paying tons of extra money for a hotel and rental car, and I only found out about the delivery date because I went out of my way to ask for it.

They were supposed to narrow down the delivery window for us as our move date got closer and they never did, so I emailed them to find out. I guess they weren't in a hurry to tell us how late the delivery will be. It's a shame because the guys who have packed and loaded our goods (Dante the first time, Ryan the second) were really great to work with, but it shouldn't take a week to get your household belongings to you. Moving is stressful and people have to spend money and take days off of work to deal with these issues.

The good Most of the moving crew is friendly and helpful. They provide packing materials for the whole house. The office staff is very helpful and friendly. They don't just send 2 men and a truck, they sent 5 for a 3 bedroom house and at least one same person who picked up your stuff will be at the delivery. As I had asked for written confirmation on the move dates, there was no surprise there.

Now for the bad Make sure to be present at the weighing, the estimated weight is usually higher than it actually is, this will save you quite a bit if money. Don't let them pack your furniture, they do a very poor job of it and you end up with your furniture all scratched up.or broken.plus if they disassemble, you won't find the hardware anymore.

They insist on helping with the packing and you think they are being helpful.only to find out afterwards that they will charge you extra. They don't make a good inventory of your belongings so make sure you make your own so you can check that you get all your stuff back.

Everything seemed to be going fine when we hired Merchants. The guy comes and gives us an estimate. We are fine with it. He tells us that a few items - a large painting and a mirror - will need to be crated. He includes that in the estimate. Also, a piano will have to be disassembled. Okay. He tells us that the day before the move, a crew will come and prep and crate, etc.

So the day before the move, a crew shows up. However, they say they are there to "pack." We had never discussed packing with the sales guy though. We question them and call the sales guy to make sure that this was included in the estimate. However, the guy is on vacation. So we let them go ahead and do whatever they are supposed to do. The guys are friendly and work hard. However, they note that they weren't told there was a piano!

Oh well, they say they will bring a piano board the next day. The guy doing the crating tells us that the salesman didn't measure the mirror correctly. But he manages. The day of the move goes well. They separate the things to go to storage and those going to our home in Wisconsin. The movers do a good job. However, here is my complaint. When the charge goes through it is $1600 over the estimate!

We have been charged for the packing that was never discussed. No estimate was ever made, nor did we want it. We would have finished it ourselves. I call the salesman, and he is totally useless. He agrees it was not part of the estimate, nor was it ever discussed. But he refuses to do anything about it. So I write the president both in an email and via mail.

I get no response whatsoever! So while we were pleased with the move, I can't help but believe that this salesman took us for a ride. The complete lack of an explanation or even a response forces me to recommend against using this outfit.

Moving is stressful enough as it is, but trusting someone with your belongings takes things to a new level. i was a bit wary of merchants to begin with. they sent a useful moving packet, but our moving date was tentative (as in, moving date on the papers said "July 20 OR July 21" on them), and it stressed me out to no end trying to prepare. then we received a call from dante, our main merchants point of contact, on 19 july and he told us our stuff would be packed and taken away the next day. after the initial stress had subsided, it was smooth sailing from there. dante and rob came to our tiny 630-square-foot studio and packed everything up diligently and were so pleasant to chat with during the process. after everything was packed and moved onto their truck, we signed the paperwork and dante explained the process of getting everything to point b, insisting we call if we had any questions. our belongings arrived with dante right when they promised and the unloading of contents into the storage unit took about 40 minutes total. THAT'S IT! after the annoying game of phone tag back and forth at the beginning to get our concrete moving date, it became a totally pain-free moving process. i'll definitely look to merchants first the next time a move is in order!
