Upgrading my review from 1 star to 2 stars. Be sure to also read the original review down below for context and back story. Would have preferred to upgrade it from zero to 1, but they did just enough to make me bump them and 1 was the lowest possible starting point, and I promised I'd update this, so. Mayflower's claims process is, unsurprisingly, rather cumbersome.

You have to fill out an online form for each item, one at a time, can only attach two photos per item, and have a very limited amount of text that can be entered to explain what happened. They expect you to (1) provide inventory tag numbers (but our movers used none), (2) keep all packaging associated with whatever was broken, and (3) to have original receipts to prove the new-purchase value for the broken stuff. Ostensibly, missing any of these things could be cause to deny your claim.

Since it is a one item at a time claim process, it is not really plausible or time effective to list every single broken dish or lamp or cart. Other than the couple of high dollar items touched on in my original review, we also had numerous damaged items of insignificant individual value that collectively added up. Plus, let's be honest, it isn't great getting your stuff moved and banged up regardless of value, and who's got "receipts" to prove the "value" of a broken miniature crock that was a treasured gift from your late grandmother? Suffice to say, the dozen or so "little" items summarily didn't get submitted.

After you submit your claim, they will reply and offer you a no-questions-asked settlement of roughly half of what you asked for, or you can opt into the full inspection and review process and take your chances that you will get more - or maybe less, since you don't have receipts and all that. Been moved many times, this was by far the worst experience, but I have to acknowledge that after submitting our claim and opting for the review process, they eventually paid our claim for the full amount requested. That's worth recognizing. So, two stars it is.

Used this company for a local move this week. Chris came to my house and did an estimate a few weeks back. Movers were on time, polite and professional. I told them what was coming with us and what was staying. Once everything got to the new house they put everything where I wanted and reassembled the furniture that had to be disassembled for moving.

I had a couple of pieces of furniture that would not go where I had hoped due to the size, and they move them to a different location. The actual price ended up being less than the estimated price, so I am very happy!

I've worked here before. Its a great company. Chris Johnson is the most professional guy there. He is respectful to everyone and im sure you have problems with a crew you could tell him and he would try to get it solved. Just the kinda person he is.

As a professional lumper unloading a shipment in Monument CO for an elderly couple, I can say that this company treated these people very poorly. Boxes were packed sloppily, antique irreplaceable items weren't treated carefully, boxes of clothes were missing, and other expensive big items were missing. Choose a different agency if you want your items to be properly cared for and delivered correctly to the destination.

The story begins on Jan 16, run around, no phone calls back. wrong info. hang ups. very frustrating, the good news is Select Van & Storage a local deliver company.was on the ball. Made one call to them they gave me when the packages would be delivered. they were delivered on time. these were heavy boxes 260 # each. Bill and John brought them in and assembled them. Told us about the bed bases. Very pleased with this part of the story. Thanks guys

Do not use these people unless you want a whole lot of headaches. Their sales people will tell you anything just to get your business and then when you have signed up with them everything changes for the worst. They said they would let me know the evening before the truck comes and I never heard a thing. Finally by mid morning after not hearing a thing I finally called and they said the truck broke down and they could 'nt be there for 2 more days.

I asked why they did 'nt let me know and they just sorta blew it off. I told them I had airline flights scheduled that couldn't be changed and again they just sorta said too bad and then before they hung up had the nerve to tell me to have a good day. There are many moving companies out there so check them out and stay away from this company!

As of today Mayflower / Select Van is in breach of contract. The salespeople and movers were very nice providing boxes and in the move out process nine months ago. I have faithfully paid my storage fee and signed a contract for a (just under) $8k delivery fee for my belongs to be delivered between the 4th and 13th of August. I gave the requested 30 days notice.

I had to chase down Mayflower to inquire about my delivery. I was told by my salesperson that not only would it be late, but he has no idea when they can deliver. He doesn't know what happened. The customer service line confessed they had no further information. I let my lease lapse on a furnished apartment as I trusted my furniture would arrive in the nine day window.

But here I am, a 59 year old woman, sleeping on the floor of an empty house. I was told 'the good news' was that I would receive $100 a day for each day my delivery was late. Check Portland hotel prices. Insufficient. I have not seen my stuff in nine months. We have a signed contract. I doubt the response would be so casual if I broke the terms. I want my belongings.

I've been using this company for the past 2 years to house equipment and materials in the Omaha area. I requested a copy of each packing slip delivered for this location and after a few months of non-compliance I had to call and escalate the situation. I've only had to call a few times but was unable to reach Jeremy and he never returned a single voice mail.

I was just notified today that they were unable to maintain the volume of equipment stored at this location and I would need to divert and relocate future and existing equipment to another location by Monday. That's 1 business day for me, THE CUSTOMER to move more than $100,000.00 worth of equipment in one day. When my technicians visit this location they complain that the warehouse staff just give them resistance when they try to locate the needed items. Military personnel calls this a Soup Sandwich! Don't find out for yourself, find another location with a professional atmosphere.

If it was possible to give 0 stars I would. I never leave reviews but on this matter I have to. Been in contact with Matt about renting a storage unit. He told me he had an 8x40 unit for $80 a month. Show up.no unit and the ONLY one he had was impossible to access. He had no idea what he was talking about. Save yourself time and use a different company. I am in shock that they even have a business with how they run it. What a waste. I found another unit with a more trust worthy company.

The Select Van & Storage team in West Des Moines recently demonstrated their excellence. After experiencing a minor warehouse fire that exposed 6 large crates of mine to water damage (from the sprinklers). Notification was prompt. When I arrived to inspect the goods, the team brought every crate into the building and opened each one. 4 of the 6 had water ingress, and the crew was extremely helpful and patient as we inspected each item and re-packed any item that had gotten wet.

After 6 hours of work, and manual moving of about 5000-6000 lbs of goods, the team was still in great spirits. Thank you Deb for the warm welcome and for coordinating the inspection. Thanks especially to Jason, who's quick work and eagerly helpful attitude brightened everyone's day. Thanks also to Kevin, Chris, Ed, Dewy, and John, who all helped. They were great! I look forward to seeing them again when my stuff is delivered in a few months.

They should get 0 stars. Paid for "white glove delivery" of a chair from Costco. $250 to deliver one item of furniture, which they damaged while bringing it in. Then they gouged my wood floors, damaged two door frames and base boards. I will now have to be out of my house for two days, pay to kennel 4 pets and rent a hotel room because of the house layout.

They are sending out their choice of repair person, which isn't right. I did not choose this company, they were contractors of Costco. So my advice is, don't choose this company and don't use Costco "white glove delivery" it's anything but that Update. Now they are calling me a liar about the floor damage with out ever looking at it. Costco is taking care of me. They know how to treat customers. Someone will document the damage. Still until Costco finds a better contractor beware.

The quote was quick and easy to understand. The quote was not the lowest, but I had greater confidence that my possessions would be handled with care, and they were. One concern was the amount of time my things stayed in a storage container in Des Moines before being picked up by Mayflower (two weeks) and shipped to NYC. We had been told to expect that the time could be that long, but had expected 4-5 days on the day things were picked up.

As it turned out, we had issues moving into our new apartment, so the later arrival actually worked out better as we sorted that out. Lucky. Overall: very pleased with the service and would recommend.

This company has remained completely unprofessional. After working with the FMC for over a month, this company - who was contracted to handle the stateside door delivery- finally showed up with only part of my shipment from the original 20 ft sealed container AND a stack of about 20 pages of damaged goods. They also did not have the original packing / inventory sheets and claimed that they were not responsible for missing goods.

When I said, ".your company must be responsible, you opened the container. but lets not waste time, *please unload* so that we can see what the situation is" - The supervisor -on the phone- ordered his men back in the truck, and they fled, taking my household with them. Even after I called the police, they did not return and used the excuse that they were "verbally attacked" and that I refused shipment (? what!? ).

It was the opposite, I was *begging* for my goods to be unloaded and the supervisor was treating me horrible on the phone. I have documented proof and witnesses to this *true* story although they deny it. Something to think about: Why did they flee? and What were they hiding from? Where was the other furniture? In the end, I had to hire a separate, private moving company (paying more money) to go and retrieve my household from their warehouse.

Each time we tried to schedule this, they said- "no, not yet.we need more days to prepare". Prepare what? After two weeks of a further wait, the new movers and 2 of my family members showed up at Select warehouse. The missing antique furniture magically finally showed up- BUT all the *original* protective wrapping with numbering had been removed from all my more valuable pieces. (but not from the less valuable, yet still breakable furniture.) The wrapping should never be removed until the owner is present.

I have very extensive damages to my furniture from unwrapping the goods and mishandling. I filed this damage claim to the company and received no response. I have never seen a company act so unscrupulous in my entire life. Our experience with Select Van & Storage Co. can be described as nothing short of atrocious.

I have never had a moving company that was so disappointing. They moved us from Nebraska to California. Damaged multiple items, "lost" 4 boxes of our items (one of which had all my wedding and honeymoon photos along with other sentimental items from people that have passed), and "forgot" our king size mattress at a warehouse. When they first showed up they kept saying "please give us a good survey".

After they left from delivering our items I never got the survey. What a joke! When I called the driver right after they left because I realized our mattress was missing, she was rude and defensive. When I told her boxes were still missing her first response was "I didn't steal anything". Ummmm not what I said and pretty suspicious. On top of all this I was 7 months pregnant at the time and they had the nerve to argue with me about a high value item that didn't show up.

This was a set from my grandma who has passed away. I didn't give up on my stance and surprise surprise they "found" it on her truck! What is going on here? Our items still have not been found and we just received a snarky, condescending letter from the claims department implying that we are lying. I will never recommend this company to anyone!

They do not care about you or your items just as long as they get paid. We paid a lot of money for a job that still is not complete since my stuff is still missing. I would give this place no stars if I could. Customer service is terrible and the way they treat their clients face to face, over the phone, and through letters is super inappropriate.

I used to work for the better business bureau and I wish I still did after this experience. This place would have been lit up with how inefficient they are. If you want damaged and lost or stolen goods, I would suggest using them.

I have moved 4 times in the last 6 years and this has been the worst moving company I have ever used. They told me to be at my house between 8-5 when I called them the morning of delivery the didn't even have the knowledge to be able to tell me if it would be morning or afternoon. So I Waited around, 130pm I called them again and they acted like I was bothering them aside from that they answer the phone completely rude.

They still couldn't tell me when my stuff would arrive. 505pm nothing, I called them they tell me, we tried to get a hold of you, and we're gonna come buy tomorrow and we will call you at 8 in the morning. I'm furious, I took the day off work and have been waiting on nothing, then they say they will be here tomorrow! Like I have no schedule or nothing to do. 8 am the next day, no call, I call them they say it's getting loaded up and they will be on there way, they are 5 miles from me and that was 1.5 hours ago. Wtf still waiting. Please use another company.

Short story: My shipment was a week late and damaged. Longer story: They packed and picked up my shipment in mid November. Delivery was set for a week later. I was advised I needed to be there to accept the shipment or I would incur extra storage charges. I flew out to make sure I was there on the first possible delivery date and was informed the morning of that the shipment would not arrive until a week and a half later. Turns out they knew that the shipment couldn't get delivered on time before they had picked it up but had neglected to tell me.

Even though I was at the destination my belongings were still in a warehouse in the originating city. They knew that once that my belongings were on the truck on a truck I couldn't do anything and I had to pay in order to get the truck unloaded once it did arrive. DO yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague. Grabel quoted higher but I regret not going with them.

Between the vacation I burned, plane tickets I bought, and nights in the hotel Mayflower cost me 5k more in time and money. Not sure how to monetize stress but probably the 2nd most stressful time in my life.

Select Van was fantastic! They helped us relocate from Maryland to California with an additional pickup in Omaha--- we were tricky customers. : They helped us out at every step of the process. Our driver, Ken, did a great job with our things and really took care of us. Not only were the people moving our stuff awesome, the ladies in the office were always responsive and helpful! Regan answered all of my questions- even worked with my limited availability and texted me when I was unavailable by phone.

Her flexibility really made a difference! Kathy and Cathie were also both helpful and easy-to-get a hold of when I had questions. Overall, a great team that I would recommend to all! Thank you Select Van!

After having an excellent experience with Select Van and Storage in arranging my move in Omaha, I was very disappointed in the actual move. Despite the job being an hourly job, the crew lacked motivation and moved at a very slow pace. In particular one of the movers disappeared for 10-15 minutes at a time throughout the move. I paid for a total of 4 movers but feel like I should have paid for about 2.5. Two Men and a Truck moved me from KC to storage in Omaha and I should have stuck with them to move me from storage to my house. Very disappointing.

Horrible. I moved 1500 miles and things were damaged. I got the insurance but nothing was replaced. My TV doesn't work and my table is cracked. I used Two Men and A Truck the next time and it was wonderful.
