My wife and I used Doug for a move within Hoboken. Doug is very responsive via phone and always gets back to you. His staff treated our belongings with great respect, as if it was there own. He and his team are very personable and easy to work with. They were very thoughtful about our items when moving. I would recommend Doug and his team for anyone's move.

Had the pleasure of working with Doug and his team yesterday. Our makerspace was housed in a building that suffered a catastrophic fire and as a result we had to move all of our heavy equipment to a new location. Doug was very understanding of our situation and the urgency that the move required. The entire move was stress free and he was able to complete it in just a few hours. Happy to recommend L&L Moving!

Never, ever booking with L&L again. I was moving within Hoboken - 8 blocks to be exact. It was a 10 minute walk and about a 2 min drive. I went with L&L because Doug was really accommodating and assured me the move wouldn't take long if I had all my boxes packed and ready for this guys. I actually went with him because he didn't require (or disclose) that there was minimum time for moving. Doug's crew was mostly great and all my things were moved efficiently but dealing with Doug was extremely stressful.

I felt disrespected multiple times. He constantly complained about the walk up (even though I told him on the phone how many flights I had). He complained about my couch being old and fabric from the pillows getting on his sweatshirt. (I'm sorry moving isn't exactly the cleanest task?) He originally quoted me $777 for an 8 block move that he estimated to take four hours.

He told me on the phone it would be $187/hour. In the end it took his guys just about two hours in TOTAL. Doug then calculated at the end that it would be $650. $187/hour for two hours would be $374 plus an equipment charge of $35. So I said that couldn't be right and he then said there was a minimum of 3 hour moving fee. I told him I specifically went for his company because he assured me there wasn't going to be a minimum and his guys could complete the job quicker than the estimated 4 hours.

He then pulled up our text message from when I was booking and showed a message that was in the typing field that had never been sent that said he required a 3 hour minimum. The message was never sent! He literally just typed that up in front of me just then! I literally couldn't believe the tactics he was going to to swindle us for more money. In the end, I felt scammed, disrespected and extremely frustrated at Doug from L&L Movers.

Please if you're looking into booking - ask for all the details in writing because if you don't Doug will scam you. I was out $700 (after tipping) for a two hour move 8 blocks down the road. Never, ever booking with them again.

I would highly recommend L&L for your moving needs. I have used Doug and his crew twice and will continue to use them in the future. Doug is very responsive and truly does whatever is necessary to help you with your move. Gives great advice and is very fair in his pricing. You will be very happy with their services.

Sleazy. Took 1.5 hours to move furniture a quarter mile and tries to charge $650. He told us multiple times over phone call that the charge would be $187 per hour and that no minimums would be charged. Then he conveniently changed his mind after completing the job and told us there's a 3 hour minimum. He then showed us his phone with a text message explaining the 3 hour minimum that WAS NOT SENT.

He typed the message in his phone right before showing us and tried to make it look like he sent it. To be clear, I don't mind a good scam. I can appreciate a well executed bait and switch. But this was weak. Would've gotten 2 stars if the scam was any good. He complained the whole time that he had to actually move furniture. I'm not sure what he was expecting to do that day, but he wasn't happy that he had to move stuff. He also asked me multiple times why I was moving to Hoboken and reiterated that he was "born and raised here". Weird. Do yourself a favor and book elsewhere.

Doug and his crew have moved us more than half a dozen times in the past 28 years. They have moved antiques and other fragile items flawlessly. When they give a flat price, they stick to it. They are true professionals

I have used Doug for every moves over the last 25 years in Hoboken, the shore and central NJ. They are great movers, They do quality Work and move quickly and efficiently. They were able to move everything even our Kayaks. I will never forget what he did for my sister and I years ago in Hoboken when we moved into an apartment that had a water heater leak and we couldn't move in because of mold. he actually helped us find a new place to live that day! Doug and his team go above and beyond and truly care about their customers! I wouldn't think of using anyone else.

I've used L&L movers for 4 moves over the course of 25 years and wouldn't think of using anyone else. I called up Doug for my latest move out of Hoboken to central jersey. He was super accommodating and went above and beyond to make my move happen and has done so with every one of my moves. I was so overwhelmed with packing and he sent one of his packers right over to get me over the finish line, thank goodness! Doug and his crew are super professional, expedient and very reasonably priced. I HIGHLY recommend L&L and I'm very grateful for their service.

Great company. I called on Friday and was able to get my couch moved on Monday. They were great with communication and everything went smoothly.

Look into this business' reviews on Yelp (mine for example) before proceeding. Beware of damage, bully tactics, and make sure you get a signed accurate clear contract including insurances to hold them liable. Owner lacks taking any responsibility or ownership over errors of any kind. Definitely would not recommend at all, especially for women, seniors, and the disabled.

Positive reviews look rather suspicious on here seeing that the profiles only have 1 review. Get everything in writing, dated, and signed if you decide to proceed, proceed with caution and have a lawyer ready on stand by. Also if at anytime you become suspicious or uncomfortable with the move use your voice. If that doesn't work then cancel the job. The "Cash Only" ordeal is also an enormous red flag.

I had previously used L&L in prior moves and had a good experience until this last time. Moving is stressful in itself and I use movers to help take some of that stress away but that was not the case. This past time I used L&L, Doug quoted one amount and then came in $400 over my estimate. Partially because he charged me $25/flight to take a couch down the stairs because it wouldn't fit in an elevator.

Last time I used them I lived in a 4 story walk up and don't remember extra charges because they had to carry things down stairs. Throughout the whole move, there was constant complaining from Doug. How many boxes I had, how heavy something was and why was my couch so big (although in the grand scheme of couches it's just a regular size).

He is paid for this service, I don't need the complaining to add to the stress of the day. The rest of the guys were completely professional and I had no issues with them. They showed up on time and came in under the time that was quoted for the move (4 hours instead of 5-6). Which if they came in under the time, why was it still $400 over the estimate?

I called Doug and L&L two days ago with an odd request and they really bailed me out! I'd just finished a move with another company (my first mistake) and there was one very large, very heavy piece of furniture the previous crew just couldn't move, so it was stuck at my old location and I was unable to use it for storage at my new location. A very frustrating situation and my options weren't great: either find someone new to move it out, or just destroy it.

The piece was given to me as a gift and I didn't want to part with it, but I was running out of time. I called L&L on Tuesday and I'm pleased to say that today, Thursday - only two days later - they got this mammoth piece out of my old apartment, down a very tight set of stairs in my old building and into my new place - all within a couple of hours!

I'm so relieved. I'll definitely be calling them for any future moves, and I'd recommend others do the same!.They're proactive, friendly, quick to respond and they work fast and efficiently. A+ experience.

L&L came early to the job, got things down from a 5th floor walk up in record time & make a very stressful day SO easy. we had to split up into a new home (with new furniture), and two storage units and these guys didn't even flinch. so fast and efficient 12/10 recommend.

I used L and L to move from Hoboken to Jersey City this past month and Doug and the movers were great! Would most definitely use L and L again and would recommend them to all my friends in the future! The team of movers worked extremely hard on one of the hottest days of the year. Thanks L and L!

Doug and his team were a pleasure to work with. Extremely professional, responsive and efficient. His price quotes were very reasonable and more than fair. Even more-so, our move date changed and Doug was able to accommodate us with no stress at all. We would highly recommend L&L for any of your moving needs. They have a repeat customer here!

Doug and his guys are fantastic. Smart, professional, careful, and honest. I used them one or twice while living in Hoboken and when I needed movers after leaving Hoboken they were first on my list to call. Doug is straight forward and about how long the job will take and gives a solid estimate. Moving is stressful enough as it is, Doug and his people allow you to think about the important stuff and they handle the actual move. 100% would use again.

I've lived in hoboken for 8 years and always used tommys movers. Since tommys doesn't do moves to NYC, I used L & L instead. I wasn't moving any furniture at all- just boxes, suitcases full of clothes, and also tote bags that i filled after i used all my boxes. There were pros and cons to my experience: PROS: -doug was extremely responsive and called me minutes after i completed the online form.

He is friendly and professional. -doug and his two guys arrived early and were efficient in getting everything out of my 4th floor walk-up. Everyone was very nice. CON (and this is a big one!) -I was quoted $158 an hour + the tunnel toll cost. The guys arrived at 7 AM and were done at 9:45 AM. So let's call it 3 hours. That should have landed me around $500-$600 if you include the tunnel cost.

When everything was done, Doug quoted me $924! After I picked my jaw up off the floor, I said I wasn't expecting that and that I only had $800 in cash (I thought this would have been MORE than enough including generous tips for the crew) he recalculated the cost and came to $850. He said they had to use extra boxes to Move my tote bags since they weren't in boxes.

He also said the cost includes their drive back to NJ (which is only 30 minutes, i do it a few times a week) Fortunately my boyfriend had extra cash so we could pay them. Moving is obviously a draining and expensive experience but I never expected to pay $850 (plus tip) for a 3 hour move that involved ZERO furniture. Make sure you ask the right questions before moving forward with this company so you aren't surprised with a huge expense at the end.

Doug and his team were punctual, professional, and FAST. Provided a COI to my apartment building seamlessly. They moved our very full 2 bedrooms worth of furniture and stuff (we're talking around 50 boxes) from jersey city to suburbs 40 minutes away in a 5 hour time span in 90 degree weather. Originally thought the move would take 7-8 hours. We started at 7:15am and were done by 12:15pm. They were friendly, helpful, and made a stressful process as easy as possible. Can't go wrong with this team.

L&L did a great job with my move. They arrived early and were very efficient. I needed to book movers on short notice and they were one of the only companies with availability and gave me the best rate out of the 5 other companies I called. We were moving our stuff into a storage unit and they helped us pick out the right size for the amount of things we had.

It made me uneasy that they weren't all wearing masks (2 out of 4), but they kept their distance from us for the most part and I understand it's probably very hot to wear one while lifting furniture. Overall, they did a great job and I would hire them again.

Doug and his crew were fantastic. We appreciate all of the hard work they did for us! The move almost didn't even happen due to some miscommunication, but Doug moved some jobs around and made it happen. We will never forget that! Thank you L&L Van Lines!

Doug and his staff were very professional to work with. I had a short window of opportunity to schedule my move and Doug responded immediately. He and his team arrived early and completed the move in under the time originally quoted. Save yourselves the hassle in advance and call L&L first because Doug will give you a fair price and is committed to service excellence.

They arrived to my apartment right on time, and were so fast getting everything out of my one bedroom apartment in a half hour. I didn't have anything to wrap my flat screen TV or my full length mirror, and they kept these pricey items safe without any cracks or scratches. Brought everything upstairs to my new apartment just as fast, and I had a new bed frame I wanted to set up and they were kind enough to help me out and set it up for me. Took only two hours in total, super quick process. Highly recommend!

Doug sent 4 people instead of 3, but it was worth the money! 20$ more an hour, but! Move of one bedroom was done between hoboken and jersey city in less then 2 hours! Great team! All employees were professional and not of the streets! One bedroom move was never easier! Thanks to Doug and his team!

I've used L&L twice to move within Hoboken. Both moves were on time, nothing was broken, and everything completed seemlessly. Doug comes out to do an in person estimate- which I find helpful instead of e mailing photos of items to a company. During my latest move, I had an unexpected and last minute change of move date- which was accommodated. I'm hoping to not move again for a long time, but if I do, I'll be calling L&L again.

L & L movers were absolutely fantastic. The crew on the ground gets 5+ stars as they were on time, friendly, careful, and moved quickly even though I was moving out of a narrow brownstone in August. However the reason I knocked a star off is because their boss and owner Doug is a total jerk. He's rude and doesn't keep good notes so asks the same questions over and over again. He's very short on the phone and hard to get in touch with.

I only moved forward with L & L as the building I moved into recommended them. I'm glad I did as the day of process was seamless, however maybe the owner should be removed from the process completely.

I used L & L Van Lines for a recent move from Hoboken to Glen Ridge, NJ. I cannot say enough positive things about them. I have moved 8 times in the last several years and in all my experiences with various movers I have never had a better one. The team was on time, respectful and even though it was *very* hot outside, did an amazing job. Nothing was damaged or broken the final price came in lower than estimate. More than anything they made a stressful day super smooth. I highly recommend them!

Great Company! All the personnels are professional and punctual. Shaun has great communication skills, and he continuously calls/texts for updates, which makes my life super easy in this modern world. They did an excellent job moving me out and in within the hour. Also, they took their time to wrap furniture: disassembled a mirror to only reassemble at the new place. They also have great personalities, which is essential; specially, when you are letting strangers into your home. I highly recommend this crew to help move you!

We used L and L recently. In setting up the move they were very responsive in determining the price and needs and answering questions. They are a smaller, local Hoboken moving company and therefore don't offer the same services that larger more established national movers or white glove movers may offer namely TV mounting and unmounting, comprehensive packing and unpacking etc., They aren't as professional as you might find but they are generally courteous. Moving should be hassle free though and it was not in our experience with L and L.

If you are doing a small, contained local move they are fine but otherwise I'd recommend going somewhere else. Some of the movers we worked with were excellent and hard working while others much less so. The main point of contact was flabbergasted - always - but he also works hard. The quote was a miss.

I've used L & L Van Lines twice and each time my expectations have been exceeded. One was a move in Hoboken, the other was a move outside of Hoboken to a town 40 minutes away. Doug was courteous and the workers were very efficient and took great care of my stuff. Price was fair and none of my things were damaged. I'd love to use L & L when I move again next and can't recommend them enough to others looking for a moving company!

My wife and I met in Brooklyn in 2002 and have moved now 8 times and we obviously used the best for last. Sammy's crew of Angelo, Wolf, and Big Mike MC, were relentless and constantly moving- we came in way way under the estimate because of their hustle. They took great care of our antique furniture and were able to move ikea furniture too- very impressed with this crew and this company. On time! Below estimate! Courteous and friendly- very polite bunch. Made moving - which is very stressful a stress free experience.

I just moved yesterday from a one bedroom to a two bedroom apartment, within the same building, and had to write a review about the great service I received from L&L! First of all, when I started reaching out to moving companies for estimates, Doug responded to my online request immediately and came over to give me an in person estimate within an hour of my pressing "submit" on their website.

He quoted me a fair price and was just a nice guy all around when I met him. Then, I got confirmation the day before our move via a call from Doug - always nice to hear from the same person again. He also let me know that my move would be earlier than anticipated (morning vs afternoon) which was great. Finally, the day of our move arrived. Luckily, we were only moving down the hall (no elevators or truck needed).

The team arrived earlier than anticipated and got to work straight away. The guys were super quick and efficient, even taking care of all the clothes in both our closets (which I had not expected). I also realized that a cushion on my dining room chair had stuck to the chair itself and immediately, one of the gentlemen pulled out a sandpaper block and started working on my chair, making it look as good as new!

The team finished the move well under the estimated time frame and were polite, friendly, and extremely helpful in making my anxiety about moving disappear. Thank you so much for all your help!
