Chances are that you may have an abandoned heating underground storage oil tanks on your property. The Washington State law states that underground heating oil tanks must be decommissioned. According to current environmental law, a homeowner can be held liable for any contamination resulting from a leaking home heating oil tank.
Both removal and abandonment in place are approved methods of decommissioning an underground storage fuel tank. Your tank will be pumped out, triple rinsed and filled with structural foam, sand, or controlled density fill (lean concrete). The fill and vent pipes will be capped and cut off or removed.
Tank leakage can be detected by collecting soil samples from around the underground storage tank. The test samples are then delivered to an independent, fully accredited analytical laboratory that will test the soil for Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons. All test results are provided in a written report.

Filco responded quickly to our request for an estimate to remove our 275 gallon above ground oil tank. When we were ready to schedule the removal a few months later, Filco was able to send out a crew to our house within a few weeks. The crew removed our above ground oil tank within two hours!

The service from all the technicians and customer service people at Filco is terrific! They are quick to respond, arrive on time and do their work on schedule, cleanly and efficiently. We highly recommond Filco to handle decommissioning an oil tank. Even one like ours that hadn't been used in over 30 years.

I just realized that I never followed up on this review. The second company that we hired to do a wash and fill of our tank saw absolutely *no* indication that we had an oil leak. We were THRILLED to find a company unaffiliated with Filco to handle this job for us - one we could trust. I strongly recommend that you do your homework if you are hiring a company to decommission your oil tank.

This company owns a number of similar businesses that offer the *exact* same services under different names. We literally had to check company ownership records to locate a business that was not owned by the owner of this company. Yes, I (STILL!) recommend that you look elsewhere if you need to decommission an oil tank.

I'm a real estate agent who has need from time to time of rank inspection. There are many things that immediately set Filco apart from their competition: First, responsiveness. Seems to me that it has become the "thing" in the trades to become unreachable. Utterly. And then when you do reach someone, they can't see you for weeks and the rates are SO HIGH!

Not these guys. Next, they have a Flat rate for the first hour of inspection. $175. The other guy I talked to who couldn't get there until the middle of next week was $175 for the first 15 MINUTES! And then $25 every 15 minutes after! These guys have a flat rate. No piling on the fees. Last, they could get there in 2 days. Not a week. Not 2 weeks.

Two days. Anyone who has bought a home knows that the inspection deadlines are stressful. These guys get that and they have the time you need, when you need it. I would recommend this company to all my clients. Last - VERY NICE and ORGANIZED office staff. Thanks Melissa : You will get my business.

After finding an oil tank under our concrete I called Filco to come out and take a look at it. I called on a Monday and was told someone would get back to me. Called back on Tuesday and was told the same thing. I called back on Thursday and talked with Tim and he said he would get back to me to set something up. I called back on Friday and left a message. Tim finally called back on Monday, a week after I had first called and he wanted to schedule a time to come out. I was very frustrated and had already hired another company that I called on Friday and they came out Monday morning. Filco obviously did not want my business anyway. Julie

When I bought my house a few months ago it came with an old oil tank buried in the back yard in need of decommissioning. Filco got back to me right away after I sent them an online request for an estimate. They gave me a very reasonable price, didn't try to sell me on anything I didn't need, and had the work done the next day. If I ever need another oil tank decommissioned (which hopefully will be never), I will definitely use Filco.
