E. L. Edwards Realty. was founded by LaVerne and Norma Edwards in 1984. What started with a tiny office at home grew in a several years to serving almost 100 clients. We moved to our present location in December of 1987. LaVerne and Norma started their much deserved retirement in 1994. Terry and Joyce Edwards became the owners after working within the family business for over ten years.

Maintenance requests are frequently ignored or "lost". It took over a year to get any maintenance issues even addressed, and even then they were finally addressed they weren't appropriately fixed, or even still ignored. On one occasion, the maintenance person they sent out had no idea what he was doing, blew a bunch of fuses and light bulbs and caused power surges, yelled at me when I tried to tell him to stop, and then caught an electrical outlet and power strip on fire.

I had to yell at him and threaten to call the police to get him to leave my house. When we moved out we were charged for replacing the carpet in the entire house, even though the carpet was nasty and ripped when we moved in and we lived there over 3 years. Rent was raised $75 every year, even though no maintenance or improvements were performed.

Out of all the property management in the area this is probably the most Fair one you'll find because they don't demand an application fee up front and allow you to locate a place that you want to live in see it and then run the application instead of you have to pay up front

Process wasn't to bad. Pretty good rental moved into although very gross when we moved in. Make sure you mention EVERYTHING on the inspection report especially the carpets. It's in the fine print but they will force you to professionally clean the carpets before you move out. If the carpets aren't gorgeous when you move in notate it so that can't keep any more of your security deposit hostage.

It's great cause I e been looking for a place for months! Been watching a few of them. Had contact with el edwards about them and I called 2-3 times a week waiting for one so I can apply, when it came available they gave it to one of their agents instead of calling me like I've been asking for weeks. So they aren't honest people. They don't care if you have kids and have been homeless for months. They just care if you know them. I will make sure I spread their name across coos county that they are the worse. Remember 1 negative goes along way!

I lived in my apartment with my son for 2 years NEXT door to the landlord/property owner, did everything she asked me for help with kept the noise down and to ourselves and out of the blue we got a get out notice. Then they called me a couple days later while I was out claiming the place was on fire and the fire department was on the way. My son was at home by himself, I called and nothing was happening.

I called them back and they didn't apologize just said this is what we were told and that the fire dept was coming. I called back 2 hours later telling them I am still waiting for the fire dept and nothing. We had mold growing on the ceiling in the front room, reported it several times they said they were going to fix it and never did. I also on the move in report mentioned the blinds were falling off the walls.nothing.

I had 1 month to try and find a place in the middle of summer when NOTHING was available. They screwed me over on the one place I did find by saying I owed them money when I didn't, because I always paid my rent on time. Charged me for new blinds 900 bucks for painting the moldy ceiling another 400 bucks. Then for cleaning a carpet when even Oregon law calls it wear and tear after a year. Did I leave a small mess Yes I did after how they treated me and how little time I had to get out. Funny how everyone in the office seems to be related to one another.

Even after carpets cleaned, they charged. Carpets had holes in them, laundry room seldom worked. Great location but not for what they wanted. My garage is bigger than the whole apartment. Had a lock for entire bldg, which was good.

This is a miserable, inefficient property management company to use, but unfortunately they're one of the only places in town. I rented from EL Edwards because I was in Coos Bay as a travel nurse and needed a 3 month rental. EL Edwards appears to have the market on month-to-month and short-term in Coos Bay, so they just run their business their own way without any competition to instill customer service.

For starters, it's impossible to reach anyone there by phone, it just rings and goes to voicemail without anyone calling you back. You have to visit their office in person to arrange to see their houses, and you will continue to hear the phones ring but no one answers them! When you are viewing their properties, check every single detail, and don't assume that anything will be in working order!

Upon further inspection at move-in, we discovered a leaking fridge and an unusable dishwasher, which had all the tongs of the racks broken off and rust all over. Also problems like broken sheets of glass in the garage (never removed during our rental) and missing screen door. We called to report the problems upon move-in, but we had to bring the condition report in person to discuss the problems.

In our entire time there, no one from the office ever called us back, but simply would send a contractor out to the house, or have the contractor call us. Eventually the broken appliances were replaced and the contractors were okay to work with. The second star is my review is because we didn't have any billing problems and received our full deposit back. You do have to drop a personal check at their office, or mail a check, which is inconvenient.

Avoid at all costs! Everything seems nice when they want your money. We were long term great renters. We began having mold problems among many other things, and requested repairs as well as help with the mold. It was not caused by us but seeping through the corners and outlets of the home. Refused to do repairs to the roof. We gave our notice because it was so bad. Cleaned the home prior to moving out as we are supposed too but could not clean or remove the mold damage that had been reported on multiple occasions. Charged us the cost of repairs and "painting it over" as well add many other issues that had been reported needing fixed around the home.

Including over $33hr labor for that work. They will STEAL your deposit in the end and blame you for any and all normal wear and tear. We had practically nothing left of our $1,600.00 deposit. Reported to BBB. I own my home now but will NEVER recommend this company. Not even to enemies if i had them.

Only giving 1 star because I have to give at least one to review. I just found out E L Edwards put me in collection after they stole my deposit. I hope they read this. I have pictures and wasn't going to pursue legal action. but now. now I will. I HAVE PICTURES OF EVERY INCH OF THAT HOUSE. This company steals your deposit because they know it's not worth the time for you to take them to court. well now it's worth my time.

I got a list of expenses (why they would not return my deposit) and just to name a couple odd things. 1) they paid someone 35 dollars a hr for 3 hrs to throw away 3 bags of trash. 2) they sent me receipts for tools that any rental company would own. many more to list. Don't do business with these people. It's family run and the whole family is in on the scam so you can't ever get someone honest on the phone.
