A local move is defined as any move under 100 miles from Los Angeles, yet still within the state of California. A California intrastate move is defined by any move over 100 miles from the city of origin, but still within the state. Containerized vault storage is the most economical and safest form of storage. It has many advantages over "self storage, " and will cost you less because of the advanced techniques used. We store your household goods in large (solid wood) vaults specifically designed for furniture storage. They measure, 5 feet wide, by 7 feet deep, by 7 feet high.
There are several ways to accomplish this. Many of our customers decide to do their own packing. We stock all the materials needed, such as paper and tape, and we'll supply you with a pamphlet which contains a section on packing tips. Plus, we are always available to answer any questions you may have.
If there is a significant amount of packing, it should be done the day before the move. That way you will be ready to go when the movers arrive. The packers can also advise you on all the various aspects of the move to ensure you are fully prepared. This will save you time, and money. More complicated access, long walks, or elevators would be good situations for extra help.

Just completed an interstate move (CA to NV) and couldn't have been happier with the team at Gentle Giant/Atlas Moving. Michael came out to survey our move in person (unlike some who only wanted to do a virtual tour) and gave us the most thorough and accurate estimate of the four moving companies I contacted. We appreciated his diligence. Maria was very patient in answering all of my questions leading up to the moving, made all arrangements for the third-party vendors we needed for crating/uncrating special items and handled all the paperwork. Reynaldo and his team of packers and movers were terrific.
They were extremely careful, yet fast and efficient. Interstate moves are expensive. be sure you do your research so that there are no unpleasant surprises. Go with Gentle Giant!

We move often. So I have a number of comparisons. The pick up was well done. Unfortunately the delivery "guarantee window" was a joke. 3-14 days have now become a month. Still waiting. and no sign of a delivery. Most frustrating and unprofessional is the lack of communication. I have no idea when a driver will be assigned. And no word from the Giants regarding their actions. We are stuck. Don't make the same mistake.

Words cannot even begin to express how happy I am that I decided to go with Gentle Giant for our multiple moves! My husband and I sold our condo in West Hollywood and moved to Palm Springs and temporarily moved in with family while we looked for a house to buy. So we needed a moving company that would #1 move us out of our condo in WEHO, #2 Store all of our stuff until we found a house to buy in Palm Springs in a secure warehouse #3 deliver our things to our new home.
I called a few movers that my realtor recommended and kept hearing sorry we don't do a 3 process move with storage in the middle of that process. I got onto YELP and I'm so glad I did b/c I found Gentle Giant. The first day I called back in July I spoke with Alexis who runs the office and the warehouse. She is such a sweet and kind person and very knowledgeable.
She is such an asset to this company. Even in a pandemic with labor shortages she was able to work with me in getting a last minute move scheduled even though we were about 2 weeks out of moving. Michael the owner of the company came to our condo and surveyed all of our stuff and gave us a detailed estimate. We all wore masks and practiced Covid protocols and I could tell from that meeting that Michael knows what he is doing and really cares about his team.
On moving day the 4 moving guys showed up on time and were very kind and hardworking. Gentle Giant even threw in 30 days of free storage at their warehouse. We ended up storing our stuff for 75 days and therefore only paid for 45 days. We found our dream home in Palm Springs and called Gentle Giant up 2 weeks out and they secured our move in date 2 weeks later and we had the same 4 professional guys move us into our new home in Palm Springs.
I can't say thank you enough to EVERYONE at Gentle Giant for their outstanding customer service, being honest and ethical, and most importantly the kindness that they showed us. Moving is already a stressful endeavor and ours was complicated. I would not hesitate to recommend Gentle Giant to my friends and colleagues and anyone else that needed a good moving company. Excellent services from start to finish, absolutely recommend. This was a long distance intrastate move of my 80-something mother from SoCal to NorCal to be near both of her adult children. We were nervous after reading lots of moving stories online, as none of us had done a move like this before, and much had to be arranged remotely. Requested quotes from several major companies, and Gentle Giant was mom's locally affiliate for Atlas.
Due to COVID we had to do video walk-thrus using my phone (I traveled down to mom's for that), and Alex impressed me right off the bat with how he handled that. The good vibe and attention to detail & service was consistent all the way through delivery! First, they were able to accommodate our schedule. Gentle Giants packing team were professional and efficient on day one.
The driver, Rey, and his helpers were terrific on both ends of the move (same team for load & unload), & took excellent care;we didn't have damage to either house or any belongings. Alex even arranged for a truck to ship mom's car for us. We were in good hands the whole time. Their whole team really went the "extra mile" for us. We really appreciated all their hard work.

I just wanted to say how very pleased I was with my most recent moving experience. I moved from Hawthorne to LA, which isn't that far, only about 30 minutes away. But the Gentle Giants helped me move from my one bedroom, upstairs apartment to a one story house so fast, and without nickel and diming me. I mention that because I called a few other places before them and some were outright ridiculously high priced ($800+!) Gentle Giants were affordable and really were efficient. Tony and Felipe were friendly too and their calmness helped ease the stress I had from my family's move.
I was impressed with how professional the movers were and really were good at what they do! I'm still so impressed that they moved my wide 8ft couch with no problem, out of a narrow doorway, down a steep flight and a half out stairs! Also setting the appointment up was very easy and I felt very reassured after speaking with Alexis that this was the company to book.
So thank you so much for the great moving experience. I'm hoping not to move again (it's not you, it's me). But I will definitely recommend Gentle Giants if anyone asks me for a moving company recommendation. Thank you!

I've had awful experiences in the past when moving and always dreaded it, but after I met with GG to get the estimate for how much it would cost me to move, they made me feel a lot less stressed about it. On the day of the move, they were machines. They were so organized and methodical in how they did everything. Not only were they fast, but they wrapped everything up really well, took apart furniture that needed it and were really professional.
Nothing was harmed and they got it done so quickly. They were also very affordable. It's by far the best moving experience I've had and I'll be recommending them to anyone I know who is moving.

A nightmare and it continues. My furniture was upside down with the legs broken off. Boxes were missing and no response from Michael Ferrari. He is a little man with a napoleonic syndrome. He finally called after we disputed his storage bill which was 2 weeks after the fact. He is a self glosser and full of himself. He stated we had junky old furniture and was extremely nasty.
He told my 78 year old disabled veteran husband to come down to his business and just see who the man really was. He is a name dropper. After 2 attorneys we finally get the name of his Ins company. No claim number since 4/24/2018, which tells me he has not reported this to his insurance company. Our homes were on several covers of magazines with appraisals over 7 figures.
We have a gun missing. He cancelled his packers the day before which caused chaos! I have written the department of Insurance, DOT & other agencies. He likes to threaten And Yell.

Gentle Giant is an upstanding boutique moving company connected with a reputable national chain. I highly recommend them. After weeks of anxiety around finding a moving company for our cross-country journey, a competitor recommended Gentle Giant after the other company was not able to accommodate our move due to scheduling. Immediately, I thought that it was pretty telling that a competitor would stand by them. Then, Mike, the co-owner, completely won us over.
He was a straight shooter and patiently answered all of my (1,000) questions about moving company selection (Maria, the other co-owner happily did the same). He revised our estimate 3 times and even stayed at the office after hours so we could pick up free boxes (before we had even committed to his estimate). His life story is incredibly compelling and he just has a good energy.
The crew he connected us with did an excellent job and washed all of our worries away. I'm so grateful we found out about Gentle Giant and would use them again in a heartbeat.

I've been a Gentle Giant customer for over 10 years - for both moving and storage services. I rarely write reviews but I am continually impressed by the top notch professionalism (excellent organization and attention to detail) and customer service by this entire team. I often have to access my inventory in the warehouse and am so appreciative of how helpful everyone is. Added to that, the owner, Michael Ferrari, is truly a wonderful (kind and decent) human being.

My husband and I have used Gentle Giant for local moving and storage for ten years. In October 2018 we went to the warehouse in Hawthorne and selected items that had been in storage for several years to be shipped to our new home in the state of Washington. The furniture to be shipped include numerous items from Baker Furniture as well as Persian rugs. Gentle Giant is an affiliate of Atlas Van Lines and Michael Ferrari of Gentle Giant arranged the interstate move with Atlas and sold us insurance provided by Atlas for replacement value in case of damage.
Because we were shipping high end goods we thought it prudent to have insurance. When the goods arrived at their destination a round mahogany pedestal table by Baker had been severely damaged. The delivery person gave no explanation as to what had happened and gave us a number to call the insurance company. They said they would send a claims agent which they did.
This man did a cursory look and said the damage could be repaired for less than the deductible and we were told it was our problem to find someone to repair it. He also said we had attempted to repair it before which is blatantly untrue. Brackets were put on the broke legs and pedestal after we left the warehouse and prior to delivery. Michael Ferrari gave us the name of someone local who never responded to our calls and emails.
We finally found someone who after looking at the pictures said he could repair it. He has a shop that repairs fine furniture and antiques. When he came today and picked it up he said it could not be repaired. It is now six months since we received the damaged goods. Michael Ferrari says its not his problem even though he as Atlas Van Lines representative sold us the insurance.
We have the original purchase invoice for the table and since it is no longer being made, the closest replacement we could find is $3200. Michael has refused to do anything for us. After all these years I can't say how sorry I am that we ever did business with Gentle Giant and Atlas Van Lines, and I am writing this as a warning to anyone who is considering them for moving and storage. I would give them no stars but that is not possible on this website.

My wife and I wish there more stars to rate this moving company. Dunno how we started w them, but it was likely more than 20 years ago. They moved us TO Palos Verdes, then three blocks IN Palos Verdes. They moved us to Redondo Beach, moved our business (huge equipment and desks etc) from one location in Torrance to another. They moved our married daughter and her family. Now they're the ones who are moving us, w associates, to Tennessee. They've become family to us. Honest, careful, friendly, reasonable, reliable. The very best.

We didn't actually end up using Gentle Giant for our move because, as we were discovering, we actually didn't have enough stuff to make a full service moving company the right choice for us. Gentle Giant actually recommended van lines or a PODS type solution instead. (Most other moving companies offered what they could to make using their services as cheap as possible without mentioning that we were maybe making a mistake looking at that kind of service at all).
We were really impressed by how honest and straight-shooting Michael was-- I'd definitely recommend him to anyone trying to navigate the world of competing moving companies; he's just an all around good guy.

This company came recommended to me by our property rental manager so I gave them a shot. They dropped furniture on the ground, scratched picture frames, broke the glass and scratched the frame of a $1200 Room & Board table. They were just sloppy all around. I hired Prodigy for my next move and the difference in professionalism was night and day although their rates are similar. Prodigy tried to work with me on the dining table glass but in a cheap way.
The owner ended up offering me $400 for my $1200 table. Technically he didn't have to do anything because the paperwork you sign only covers 60 cents per pound so he was nice enough but cheap none the less. I would not hire them again. There's better out there for the price.

Other than their breaking my flat screen TV, they were great! Personnel were friendly and knowledgeable, and their price was fair. They did everything they promised on time, and for the agreed-upon price. In fact, they were extra flexible when my new home fell through for a week and they had to sit on my belongings for a week. But. One of their workers got careless with my television and broke it.
Because they are only obliged to give me 60 cents per pound, I got less than $50 for my $600 TV. (The homeowners insurance coverage I thought I had turned out not to cover this particular kind of loss. )
